Our Mission
As people of color, we believe that it is important to recognize and value different voices, cultures, intellect, and multidimensional aspects of each other in the realm of racial diversity.
And so, oblivion magazine constructs social reality for people of color through personal anecdotes, poetry, art work, analysis of current events, photography, and more.
This magazine encourages a deeper awareness of issues and underlying attitudes that are often ignored or disregarded.
With compassion and respect for all, oblivion strives to foster the public dialogue about complex racial issues to sow the seeds for education, advocacy, and action towards equity and justice.
Though we recognize that society can be oblivious to and selective with the perspectives it takes on, we hope this magazine provides the otherwise unconscious minds an opportunity to understand the importance of underheard voices.
And to those of you who have felt underheard, we empathize with you and hope this serves as a platform for action.
With great excitement,
Bianka Bell & Sabrina Sultana Editor-in-Chiefs, oblivion
Underheard: Logh (Sweden)
I was working the Nina Persson show the other night when I heard a vaguely familiar song come over the PA. I was determined not to Shazam it, convinced I could come up with the answer on my own. I finally gave up and shamefully asked the sound guy about the song. He told me that it was by a band called Logh, but before he could tell me the title I blurted out, "LOGH! Fuck yeah, I forgot I owned this!" We then had a long talk about obscure Swedish bands that left off and picked back up throughout the rest of the night.
The always courageous Hydra Head Records licensed some of Logh's material in the States, though I'm not sure how many folks took them up on the offer. The song above (and the one I heard at the show the other night, prompting this post) is from 2005's A Sunset Panorama, the band's third full-length album.
It was recorded live in the studio in one day and there was an edition of the album that shipped with a DVD, which features the entire album, as it was performed by the band. You can actually find a couple of clips on YouTube, but unfortunately no one has uploaded the whole thing.
The Japanese version of the album included a cover of Slayer's "War Ensemble," which would be rad to hear. I'll try to hunt that down.
This album, as well as almost everything else released by Hydra Head, is available digitally: http://hydrahead.bandcamp.com/album/a-sunset-panorama
But I'll forgive him and the things he said because I love him & he's right. About some things, maybe not all and definitely not in the deliverance but I don't know how I could never not forgive him from hurting me with words. Sometimes I think I deserve it. And honesty hurts doesn't it?
It worth a watch.
Big hearts and great minds behind this project.

I absolutely love this video, I really think it's a brilliant idea and very touching and just very well done.
