Martha Jones and Bill Potts are thee most underrated DW companions.
And I love them.
And more people need to recognize this.
This is a Fredrick and Camilo fan account
#then you could go unappreciated by all the glee club, I mean YOURE NOT WRONG BUT JDIDJBD
I’m just saying. Brad hates them for a reason lol.
But imagine if all the band just refused to play? Like what if they went on strike?
Another hometown hero! Coming up from Northern Virginia, the sound of Aim For The Weekend could surely make you want to drive around town with your windows down. We got the chance to interview all 4 of the boys, John, Donny, Chris and JC through E-mail about the band, their new released EP and more!
1.) How do you come together and formed what is now Aim For The Weekend?
JC: "I started the band with John. It was originally more of a studio project but we went full band shortly after forming."
Chris: "Actually, I'm not really sure. It was just like an immaculate conception."
John: "I used to sing random songs and would kind of keep them to myself, then i think JC heard me once and decided it would be a good idea to try and write something together."
Donny: "I've know Chris for a while as well as John. My old band had just broken up when I found out these dudes needed a bass player/mosher/rocker/sweaty guy like me."
2.) What is the story behind the name Aim For The Weekend?
JC: "I met everyone in the band from going to different parties. It made sense that we would pay homage to the weekend in some way."
Chris: "That's when most of us got together. Our name was going to be something totally different. I specifically remember the parties where we would discuss possible band names on the patio with friends. We knew it was the right fit once we said it."
John: "I think we all had a part in naming us Aim For The Weekend. I used to work a 9 to 5 job so the only hope in my life on a Monday morning was aiming for the weekend, when all of our friends would pretty much party at my house and forget about work for a whole 2 days"
Donny: "The name comes from an old, old wooden ship from the civil war era."
3.) About your brand new EP, "Street Lights", who wrote most of the songs?
JC: "John wrote most of the lyrics, but I collaborated with him on a few songs. We all have input when it come to the music."
Chris: "Mainly John."
John: "I wrote most of the lyrics that were pretty much based on current and past relationships, as well as some interesting nights. David Pavluk (Bassist of The Downtown Fiction) also helped inspire some of the catchy lines in some of our songs."
Donny: "Megatron"
4.) Who or what is your biggest influence in your music?
JC: "That's tough. Every day it's different. Probably currently I would say I'm on a big Blink 182 kick."
Chris: "I would say my biggest influence are the people around me, close friends and family. They want to see me succeed no matter what I attempt to do in life. It's the driving force that keeps me moving forward."
John: "I grew up on listening to hip hop and RnB then i decided to listen to everything from metal to hardcore music. i have many influences in music ranging from Rap to rock as well as country. top bands would be Underoath, Taking back Sunday and All time Low."
Donny: "My biggest influences are Optimism and Progression. But as far as bands go, probably Blink-182. My family/friends are amazing too."
5.) 5 words to describe your music/EP
JC: "Catchy, consistent, handsome, fun, kittens."
Chris: "Fun, energetic, meaningful, silly, supernatural"
John: "drunken, slutty, party, genious, catchy."
Donny: "Serendipitous, Fantasmic, Malevolent, Volatile, and WORD!"
6.) Where do you expect your songs to be played?
JC: "Hopefully everywhere!"
Chris: " At social gatherings, elevators, and the iPod's of every person on a treadmill."
John: "Around the world, as well as on your computer!"
Donny: "Hopefully throughout the universe. But not for extra-terrestrials. God I hate them."
7.) What is the biggest goal/achievement you want to achieve as a band?
JC: "I want to get signed. Or playing Warped Tour would be amazing too."
Chris: "Aside from playing great shows, getting on a radio station or 2, and traveling the world I would just like for us to all learn, have fun, and for our music to be inspiring."
John: "Being the fastest new band to be signed as well as get a really awesome tour."
Donny: "To make heads explode, pants drop, and trees grow."
8.) What band/artist is your dream collaboration?
JC: "As weird as it may sound, I'd love to have Bruce Springsteen co-write something with us. "
Chris: "I would love to have Nate Ruess (The Format, FUN.) sing in one of our songs."
John: "Nick Santino from A Rocket to the Moon would be ideal for me."
Donny: "I would probably faint from excitement if we ever played with Blink-182. Then recover and faint again."
9.) For now, what state or country you are dying to visit?
JC: "California and Indonesia."
Chris: "Like JC said California and Indonesia are a must."
John: "New York and Europe."
Donny: "England. Just so I can hail a london cabbie and say "cheerio"."
10.) Finally, do you have anything to say to your fans?
JC: "You all amaze us. None of us expected to chart as high as we did on iTunes our first day. We owe you the world. We love you."
Chris: "Not to sound too cliche' but without them we are absolutely nothing. Our fans are so driven! It's amazing to see that fan base grow with us and help us the way they do."
John: "I trully appreciate everything everyone has done and contributed to getting us where we are now in such a short period of time. I can't wait to meet all of you soon when we tour in your areas."
Donny: "You make me smile everyday!"
Gag questions (This is a new part! From now, we'll be having funny and gag questions in interviews!)
11.) If the band got stranded in a remote island, who would be the first one to get eaten and why?
JC: "Me."
Chris: "We wouldn't be stranded long enough. Donny and I come equipped with survival skills from the Military. We would surely be rescued in no time. But if we had to eat someone, it would be JC because he wouldn't put up much of a fight."
John: "I think JC would since he has the strength of a dandelion."
Donny: "JC. Thats good eat-in right there. Would go good with a nice cold beer too. Maybe some BBQ. I'd probably have to eat around the tattoos though."
12.) If you have to go to outer space for a long time, who would you bring with you?
JC: "R2-D2"
Chris: "A girl."
John: "Katy Perry."
Donny: "XBOX 360! And Kate Beckinsale."
13.) If you have a country, what the name and national anthem would be?
JC: "Awesome-land and our national anthem would be "Thunderstruck" by AC/DC"
Chris: "Christopia. Anthem would be "We will rock you" by Queen"
John: "No Last CALLifornia and our song would be -Petey Pablo - freak-a leek"
Donny: "I would call it "The Land Before Time".. our anthem would be "Party Rock" by LMFAO."
14.) What would you do if you have boobs for a day?
JC: "Never stop staring at them."
Chris: "Put them in a wet white t-shirt and show them off around the town."
John: "Speed everywhere not get tickets and get free drinks at the bar."
Donny: "Get implants. I go for the gold."
15.) Who would you rather make out with? Rebecca Black or Snooki?
JC: "Rebecca Black is like 8 years old but Snooki is disgusting. I'm going to say The Situation."
Chris: "Pretty sure I'd wait for Rebecca Black to be old enough. Snooki is disgusting."
John: "I can't do it."
Donny: "This is like asking if you would rather eat aluminum foil or a litter box full of cat essence."
EP REVIEW
Their debut EP "Street Lights" could be said as a whole package deal. Even though they are considered as an underdog, you can hear their fresh new music, wrapped it up with fun beats and catchy lyrics, making you couldn't even stop listening to them. From the up-beat kickstarter song "Waiting By The Phone", a weekend/summer anthem "The Morning After" to the mellow "See You Then", Aim For The Weekend really know how to make their fans not wanting to take off their headphones or just simply turn the volume down.
We only need a year, or a few years until we see their name on MTV or as one of the line ups in music festivals throughout the country or even the world. I highly recommend you to just go on iTunes and buy their EP without any doubt and just a click away. (/DN)
