Let’s stop all of the outside thinking and get deeper into our minds. Think about why it is that we do what we love to do? Do we only like it because we do it so often? Or could it be that we do it often because we like it? For musicians, this is a good question to ask yourself, since many of us are always doubting our skills and abilities throughout our careers. A brilliant man once said, “What you do simply proves what you believe.” If you break down that statement you can understand the process. Deep inside of our heads exists the “Why?” question. We have to get past things part before we can begin anything logistical.
Once we know why it is we do what we do, we then move on to the “How?” – And this is where we focus on the plan to achieve something. This could be as small as a question that needs to be answered and it can be as difficult as actually figuring out a process. Finally, the very last thing to consider is the “what”. It seems strange that the “what” hasn’t been looked at first – but rest assured it is in the proper order.
