Wyoming Valley West Middle School closed indefinitely due to mold

KINGSTON — The Wyoming Valley West School District has indefinitely closed the middle school to examine and remove mold growing inside and plans to send roughly 1,100 middle school students to the high school to share the Plymouth facility by implementing

Lincoln University confirms mold found in three dorm rooms

UPDATE: One student told ABC 17 News she has moved back into Dawson Hall after spending about a week in Perry Hall while the university was said to be cleaning mold from her room. The student told us when she got back to her room in Dawson, it didn't appear much cleaner. She said some of the "fuzz" was gone but there still appeared to be mold. She told ABC 17 she is planning on speaking with the University about the issue and said she does not feel comfortable staying there. ABC 17 News did contact Misty Young for an interview on this but she declined. She also declined to speak about the alleged sexual assault that happened on campus as well as how the campus alerts students to potentially dangerous situations on camps. We also tried to get in touch with the Director of Resident Life and Housing but did not receive a response. _______ Students living in one Lincoln University residence hall say they are continuing to live with what they believe is mold growing in their air vents. In a statement released by the school Thursday afternoon, tests showed three of 14 rooms in Dawson Hall tested had elevated mold counts. Additional rooms were tested and results are expected Friday. The school says they will work with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services to address this issue. According to DHSS, there are roughly 150,000 types of mold present in indoor and outdoor environments and mold will always be found in testing. Mold testing does not determine a health risk, but airborne molds are a common allergen. ABC 17 News has reported some students living in Dawson Hall had visited doctors for respiratory disease and dermatitis. The university says their first response was to relocate the students. However, some students ABC 17 News spoke with say they are still living in rooms with what they believe to be mold. Some students shared photos of what they believe to be the mold growing in their air vents. One student told our crew the room the school tried to move her to also had mold in it. Another student told us the university suggested students who suspect they have mold in their rooms use bleach to get rid of it. Some students say this issue has been around since summer session.

Universities, public buildings, and government buildings are prone to mold growth as maintenance programs are usually lacking or insufficient.

Elementary students removed from classroom after mold found

Students at Henryville Elementary School were forced to leave their classrooms after school officials found mold inside the rooms.

The school appears to be on top of this.  Hopefully they run air quality tests before letting the students back in.

State of emergency declared for LI firehouse infested with mold
