You told Dave that you wouldn't be too long, that there wasn't anything completely amiss. But someone has come onto your ship-- not through the gangway like any of Dion's crew would, but through the transportaliser room itself. Someone from the outside...
Grabbing your sword, you waste no time in heading down to the bowels of the ship, keeping your steps light so that whoever has invaded your ship won't know what's coming. Of course, they could have already left the room, but you've got hope they haven't. You check the heat map of the ship, using your mechanical hand to pull it up in mid-air. There's Dave, Aranea, your children, a few architects working on the ballroom... And a tiny red spot inside the room. The spot isn't moving, so you think it's safe, yet you keep your guard up and your hand on your sword. You open the door and take a deep breath, rounding the corner and unsheathing your sword, prepared for a fight. But there's no one there. At least, no one for you to fight.
On the main transportaliser pad, is a small fishbowl, holding a familiar face-- A tiny grub that you've cared for on and off. Eridan's little girl, Izerti, is swimming around happily in her bowl, and you greet her just like you've always done. She's looking better, and she blows bubbles at you excitedly. Still, you wonder why it's only her that's here-- Eridan should be with her. But there was only one extra dot on the heat map... She's the only one here.
You glance down next to the bowl, and find a note and a charm, made of the same gold and gems that your engagement rings were made of. You're hoping that this is not what you think it is, that he's just checking in with you, but your worst fears are confirmed as you read the note. He's gone. He won't be coming back. He still thinks of you often, but he's not returning... The paper smells of him, and you know that he's the one that wrote it-- no one else would use the words he has. Swallowing hard, you put the note down to slide the charm onto your necklace, hands shaking as you clasp it back around your neck. You expected this... You knew that nothing good could ever last for you. Picking up the fishbowl and the note, you hold your tears back. You won't cry until she's situated in the nursery, until you've tucked the letter away in your room, until you've told Dave and Aranea you're calling it a night... But as soon as you close the door behind you, you start to sob, your entire being a mess, your mind remembering not how much you loved him, but how hurt you are now that he's gone.
You don't make it more than ten feet down the hall before you sink to your knees and wail.
