I have made the difficult decision to close An Unfortunate Event. To members new and old, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all that you've done and contributed. 

As of July 28, 2019, there will be no more access to the main blog. Please do not continue playing your characters outside of this group (indie rp, 1x1, etc.) and do not bring them into other groups. If you have created an OC, feel free to do as you wish with them as they are your characters. If you have any questions, comments, concerns, or simply want to say hello, feel free to send them to my writing blogs, @azianxpersuasionwrites or @azianxpersuasionrps.

Once again, thank you all for everything you've done. I hope your experience here was enjoyable and memorable, and I wish you the best in all future endeavors!

Hello dear roleplayers,

I wanted to post a short message on the main to keep everyone updated. As you may have noticed, the small renovations and updates are not finished as soon as I had hoped. Unfortunately, I ran into a few real life projects that had to be done first. We will still be reopening, but it may be closer to the middle of June after June 15th when my one project is finished. 

Despite not being open yet and working on real life projects, I will still be working on a few new bios and plot points. I would love to know any faceclaims or types of characters you’d like to see! You can message me, reply to this post, or send an ask!

Hello dear roleplayers,

The afterparty for the premiere of “the Valiant Fisherman’s Demise” has been a huge hit for everyone! People were thrilled with the film and love the afterparty even more. From delicious food and fruity drinks to some upbeat tunes, everyone is having a great time. 

However, as the night went on, the police received an anonymous tip that the person who killed Scott Sheffield is inside the party with the intention of harming someone else. Desperate to solve Scott’s murder, the police took the chance to surround the venue and lock everything down. That’s right. The party has been locked down. The music has stopped and the food and drinks are no longer coming out of the kitchen. 

Everyone has been ushered into different rooms as the officers go around the venue to check IDs and search everyone for possible weapons. There are a few security guards to watch each room that groups of people are in to make sure nothing happens until detectives can inspect everyone. If anyone sees anything suspicious, they should tell a guard immediately.

OOC Information:

There are rumors going around that the person who killed Scott Sheffield is also inside the venue of the afterparty. Everyone has been ushered inside into different rooms of the venue and are ordered NOT to leave under any circumstances. If they need something, they are to talk to one of the security guards watching over the room.

THE ABOMINABLE AFTER PARTY

Hello dear roleplayers,

This is our second event following the Valentine’s Day Mixer and the Bewildering Blackout! Following the blackout, Victoria Bradshaw’s film premiere was rescheduled several times until it was rescheduled ten days after the blackout ended. Victoria’s film The Valiant Fisherman’s Demise had a public premiere with the event being dedicated to Scott Sheffield, the young man who died during the blackout. 

Following the premiere, Victoria opened the after party to include anyone who had a ticket to the premiere. Usually, the premieres are far more exclusive, but due to the agitated attitudes following the blackout, she thought that it could help raise everyone’s spirits. There’s fantastic food, fine wine, and opportunities to meet local celebrities including Victoria herself, Michelle Chen, Lauren Valentine, and Mayor Thomas Parrish.

This event will kick off today March 27th and go until April 2nd. Please tag your starters as #unfortunate:event! Feel free to start plotting now and posting your starters. Starters can include the premiere as well as the after party. Anyone who wishes to rp on Discord or some other chat room should post their full thread when it is finished.

VALENTINE’S DAY MIXER

Hello dear roleplayers,

We are having our very first group event! Valentine’s Day is upon us and the citizens of the City love any opportunity to throw a party. Many places around the City will throw their own events, but the hottest place to be will be Veblen Hall, the multipurpose hall that is most often used for auctions. This year, Thomas Parrish has decided to throw a Valentine’s Day mixer in honor of Sybil Halloway. Anyone who attends the mixer will be asked to donate what they can to the charity that Sybil supported when she was alive. 

Anyone and everyone are welcome to the mixer. Whether you’re single and ready to mingle or a couple, there will be something for you. Rumor has it, there will even be speed dating. Alcoholic drinks will only be served after 8 PM and in a roped off area in case any underage minors get any ideas. The mixer will open at 7 PM sharp and go until 1 AM. People are asked to wear their fancy clothing and something red.

This event will kick off on February 13th and go until February 19th. Please tag your starters as #unfortunate:event! Feel free to start plotting now and post your character’s outfit for the mixer. Anyone who wishes to rp on Discord or some other chat room (such as for speed dating plots) should post their full thread when it is finished.

For some reason, I didn’t think of this earlier when creating this rp, but I have finally created a page that talks about the aesthetic of the world within An Unfortunate Event. 

Please check out our Aesthetics page (I’ll try thinking of a better name for the page later) to learn more about the look, feel, technology, fashion, etc. of the world that the rp takes place in. The page is still a work in progress as I’m going to add some pictures as visual aids. I just wanted to put up a post to let current and prospective members know about it!

Hello dear roleplayers,

After a discussion with some of our players, I’ve made a few decisions regarding ages and the types of themes that may appear in this roleplay. I’d also like to clear up some of my expectations for the rp. 

Please read the changes or further explanations below and know that there will most likely be amendments in the future as the rp evolves and depending on the comfort level of our members. 

At this time, we will only be allowing players who are 18 years old or older. 

Any character who is under the age of 18 cannot participate in any kind of smut or drug use.

Smut is currently being banned as well as any kind of mentions of sexual assault. However, this will not include fade to black situations. 

Drugs in the rp will be carefully monitored, but know that plots involving drugs are not the main focus for this rp. 

In addition, violence is also going to be monitored. Know that plots involving intense, graphic violence are also not the main focus for this rp. 

A lot of this roleplay as well as in the books and tv series features some pretty unfortunate and gruesome situations like a woman being eaten by leeches or a man being impaled with a harpoon. Despite these pretty violent happenings, my main focus in this rp is to capture the spirit of Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events and the goal of that book series is not to be extremely graphic and focus on gore, etc. 

My expectation for this rp is to maintain a rather PG-13 or hard PG-13 rating in regards to the more “mature” themes that may be featured than an R rating. This rp will focus more on the mysteries in the City, the secret organizations, and the civilians who get slowly entangled rather than the themes of hard drugs, weapons, sex, and violence that another crime rp may focus on, such as a “traditional” gang rp. 

I hope that this clears up some of the expectations and gray areas for the group. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to message me. Again, amendments to the changes and explanations above are entirely possible as the rp grows and changes.
