He is mad. 

Why won’t Gale look at him? 

On hunt, he won’t look. In cave, he won’t look. When tribe sits at fire, his tales stop and he talks to no one. He used to look always with those big brown eyes. Star used to feel his gaze on his back and on his neck and the sides of his red cheeks. At first he did not care for it, but then he saw how nice those eyes shone. How thoughts past them shone so clear. 

That’s when Star looked too. 

Now Star grits his teeth when he sees Gale look once, then look back to the trees. Not at him. This is now the norm. 

Why does he stop his looks? Star liked them. He starts to think how to get those looks back. 

When they wade in the stream, he bends deep and spreads his legs. He made sure that they would be alone, and he feels Gale’s hot gaze on him. 

“What –” A blast of blue fire shoots from Gale’s hand. 

Star leaps in the air with a gasp. “What in the hells was THAT?” 

“Oh no! This is why I stay back from the tribe! And from you! You make me orb!” 

Star is shook, heart in his throat. Gale glows! His hands and his chest are like the night flies or the bursts of light that come when it rains. 

“That– seems good!” Star cries. “Why not hunt with this?” 

Gale frowns. “You don’t fear it?” 

Star thinks. It takes a long time. Then he shrugs. “I quite like it.” 

It is Gale’s turn to be shook. Fear and hope make war on his face. 

“Thank you.” 

Star shrugs. “That’s why you don’t look?” 

Gale groans. “You make Gale dumb.” He says in a grim voice but his eyes smile. “I am most smart in the tribe. Save when you are close.” 

“Then you will be dumb.” Star says. He draws in close. At last, Gale looks at him. The weight of his eyes draws Star’s lids low. “Kiss me and be dumb, Mage Man.” 

They kiss and it gets sloppy real quick. Tongues loll. They touch each place on their forms that feels good, their cocks, their thighs, the backs of their knees. They make it up as they go, the first to do so they are sure. No one else could know how this feels and not do it all the time. 

And Gale looks and looks, and his eyes are stars.
