@unhcly in another universe, maybe rhett would have pulled away by now or maybe he might’ve sauntered over to the brunette at the cusp of the makeshift dance floor rather than lent his lips in cara’s direction. maybe he would have been a little less cautious in general because everything about her last relationship had been wrong ─ at least as much of it as he’d seen first hand ─ and cara was deserving better of that. ( any person was. ) so he wasn’t all that concerned with the chatter of people around them and the slip of her tongue had his mouth opening before he would’ve even had the chance to do otherwise anyway. two fingers of each hand brushed along the seam of her dress’s cut outs, the beat of his heart synced up with the erratic nature of the music which felt a lot more distant now. rhett’s breaths felt spotty between them, his head too focused on the hand he still had half wrapped around her neck and the movement of her tongue to worry about a normal breathing pattern.
@unhcly / it wasn’t something he had wanted to do ( abel would have much rather stretched himself the length of his couch and gorged on last night’s leftovers ) but he’d been coerced into it. his first solo nomination was a big deal, after all, and though abel had little hope that he’d actually win, his publicist had prattled on enough that showing up would feed him enough press. at least for the remainder of the month.
there was a certain emptiness that came with walking down the carpet on his own, searching for his name taped to one of the seats rather than a collective. even the three glasses of champagne he tipped back hadn’t been enough to quiet the voice in the back of his head that echoed the promise to himself he’d made the night he posted his first song on soundcloud.
what abel hadn’t intended to do was find himself weaving through the seating area during one of the many intermissions, but a full bladder had been pressing firmly against his belly and he’d been naive enough to think most of the people would save their greetings for the after party. his seat was in clear view when his shoulder bumped into another body. “ shit. i’m so sorry. ” his first thought was utter mortification ─ because let abel be the one to tumble into rihanna at an award show ─ but looking up and facing the person had his body flooding with something much, much worse.
@unhcly / charles hadn’t the slightest idea what was going on. his hand remained halfheartedly wrapped around the door knob for a second more before his left foot took a step back, his right almost immediately following. his whole body felt numb with fear, manifesting itself into giant boulders that laid over each of his lungs to make every breath that he took all the more difficult even though he could clearly see the lock he had turned seconds prior. he wasn’t home, he knew that much, and the two last fingers of his right hand now had a little tremble in them where they hovered at his side.
his lips stayed pressed shut, leaving his nose to make sure he could still get decent breaths in and out because charles feared opening his mouth would be too loud, make it too obvious to whoever it was that stood beyond the bathroom door that he was still there. charles needed the security of his mother, honestly, and would have even been placated by one of his sisters, but doing so would mean leaving the pseudo comfort of the four walls and trying to bypass the stranger pattering about the place and .. well, charles was scared. his heart might’ve beat clear out of his chest if he’d let it.
“ ─ i just want to go home. ” as if pleading would do him any real good.

i have eleven tattoos and my favorite ( and only colored ) one is my tribute to my dog, lucky, who was just a little cherub of a chihuahua that my mom liked bringing to my brothers’ soccer games even though it was super cold and i’d have to hold him in my sweater like one of those baby-cradle wrap things to keep him warm. it’s of his collar bc he had the same one for his full nine years.
one thousand six hundred years. sixteen centuries, remy had been looming between shadows and this was the first time he’d found himself stuck ─ not by his own accord, at least. he had dusted off every idea carefully shelved in the back of his mind and every call was left unanswered, every summoning leaving him nothing more than an odd boy tumbling out of the edge of the woods. ( something he swore was his vessel’s clumsiness rather than an incompetence of his own. ) his perception was still solid at least, and the devilish twist of a smile that settled along his lips was derived from something more substantial than the cup of black coffee he had set in front of him.
a multitude of his years had been spent wandering between hell and earth, and remy had his fair share of human interactions. ( fragile beings, they were. ) so he was conscious of other beings walking beside him, though it was always a matter of what that had his interest peaked. casually, he sauntered in the direction of the girl and filled the empty seat across from her. “ i’m sure someone’s told you staring’s not quite polite up here. ” he paused, then added, in lieu of an outright guess, “ ─ or down here. ” ( @unhcly !! )

She wonders if he will recognize her with this new face; if he even remembers her at all, but she keeps that hidden in her heart. It was a struggle to track him down, but she's here now, smothering down the folds of her dress and hoping she look at least half-decent. Standing outside some wenchgirl's home, where apparently he has shacked himself up. She's hesitant, but tiny hand reaches forward and knocks on the door with purpose, waits for it to open with a small hum to calm her nerves.
