Maya had that face on. The face that said too many things at once. Smug, yet not confident, clever, yet clueless. Maybe it had to do with her confusion about everything. But she didn't know. No one knew what was wrong with her. But no one understood anyways, so why bother explaining? With a deep sigh, she stared down the reflection in the mirror. The girl swapped her shirts from 7th grade for crop tops with rhinestones. Her Converse sneakers were ditched for pumps and her chapstick for lip gloss. But, that was a-okay with Maya. It didn't matter what her parents thought about it. They were able to be happy and live happy with their high school  love.

The screen of her iPhone lit up as she got a reminder to hurry up and get out of her pathetic excuse of a home. "I'm going out!" She yelled, her mom's voice just barely reaching her ear drums before she shut the door. "Where are you-". Maya's heels clicked against her hard cement steps as she ran in a strange, penguin like way. There were looks from the drivers of passing cars, but the blondie didn't know what she was doing wrong. She never even knew what she was doing wrong, but everyone was always mad at her. Realizing she was prioritizing the wrong thing in her mind, she switched her focus back to where the hell she was going. 

A large, elegant building's figure began reaching Maya's line of sight. "Here we are," she whispered to herself, out of breath." Slowing herself down to a model-esque walk, she walked up the marble steps of the Hollingsworth mansion. She braced herself for whatever was to come next. Hopefully, a night of fun with the cute boy, Miles.
