30 percent of shark species are at risk of extinction, but sure! We should kill them all off!!!! Theres /absolutely/ no consequence to killing off apex predators.. after all. they are scawy :,
Wow, and here I was advocating for them not being hunted and living a long life.
Wait holy shit, I've been following you for so long and been watching your youtube videos but somehow I made absolutely zero connection between the two
It’s all good! I feel like most people don’t make the connection since I’m not really active on Tumblr anymore haha.
hunicornlamps ha respondido a tu publicación “Why are you still a fan when there is so much nazi symbolism and...”
Asker didnt state their point of veiw, what are you disagreeing with? That nazi imagery should be avoided?
Well ...the anon showed his/her/their point of view by stating/assuming there is so much nazi symbolism and jewish villainization in snk. And I don’t think that is true, so that’s why i disagree with the anon.
Is officialfam just a term for anybody with an x-official blog? Or is it a more specific membership based group?
It used to refer to a specific group, but I think they mostly died out, so it can mean either.

Hi! Thank you for putting so much effort into this blog, its been really helpful to me in preparing for selling at a con. But recently I've been having second thoughts. I've only just turned 18 and from what I understand, that's a pretty young age to be selling at a con, but i would really like to be able to sell at a con by the end of the year even though I'm not sure if I'm capable of doing it since it's such a big responsibility and I don't have very much experience backing me up.
Kiriska: Experience doesn’t come with age. It comes with doing. It isn’t like you’ll automatically become more experienced or responsible at 20 or 22 or 25 without taking steps to get more experienced.
And honestly, artists in Artist Alleys keep getting younger and younger because of the resources available to them now that us crusty old people didn’t have when we were that age. We’re glad this blog is one of those resources, so use it, and go do your thing! :O I’ve seen 14 year olds table with parental supervision, or heck, 8-10 year olds accompanying their artist parent at their table and also displaying their own work or whatever.
One benefit of youth is that often (not always), you don’t have to worry as much about personal finances, so you’re able to go for the experience and the learning more than the profiting, which older artists may be more worried about. Take advantage of the time before you have to worry about rent and bills and all that fun adulthood stuff. Doubly so if you have even minimally supportive parents.
Yes, conventioning (and any kind of small business management) comes with lots of responsibilities. You need to be able to keep track of all kinds of things. You gotta do accounting and managing and budgeting and customer service, etc, etc. It’s a lot of jobs in one. But again, these aren’t skills you’ll automatically obtain at a certain age. Everyone’s going to make mistakes starting out, so you might as well get them out of the way early? You can read materials and resources all day, but nothing can replace the experience of actually doing something.
Start small. Pick a small convention. Make just a few things for it. You don’t have to wait until you’re older, but you also don’t have to dive into the deep end feet first. Take your time and do whatever you’re comfortable doing. Just know that there’s no learning without doing. :> Good luck!
Nattosoup: Please, please please please attend a con as a customer and browse the artist alley first. Make that a priority this year- scout out all the cons in your area, attend as a customer, and make a list of the cons that work for you. Make friends with a couple artists, ask if you could assist them for an hour or two. This will give you a feel for handling the table, and you can learn A LOT by watching how another artist works. This does take up their time, however, so make sure they’re ok with you watching, and maybe buy something from them after.
Then, make a list of smaller shows that you might be able to easily do- Free Comic Book Day (May), small library indie cons, local college one day shows, and contact them about purchasing a table. These events tend to be inexpensive, and you won’t need as much merch. This will give you an idea of if you enjoy the whole process (and there’s A LOT of process), and what sort of merchandise you enjoy making.
After you’ve dipped your toe in the water, made a small body of art and merchandise, and started promoting your work online (this helps a lot!) you can start working your way towards larger shows.
I’m so glad you found this blog helpful, and I hope you’ve clicked through our links to check out our work for more inspiration! I wish you the best of luck, and I hope you have a blast!
