ABSOLUTELY, i care them so fucking much too

i know that pearl isn't maya's biological sister but lbr she is her sister in every other way. and i think it's really powerful that they're written that way because it so parallels mia and maya... except kind of inverse?

mia left because she wanted to protect maya from the fey clan tradition by removing herself from the infighting equation. if she takes herself out of the running for master, she and maya can't be pitted against each other and forced apart, the way misty and morgan were. (she can't have known that pearl would eventually become part of this equation because she's 20 years older than pearl, so pearl wasn't even born yet when she left)

on the flip side, maya stays and accepts the mantle she's been given at least partially because she doesn't want pearl to have to deal with that pressure, especially after everything morgan put pearl through. the age difference between her and pearl is the same as the difference between mia and maya as well so they have a similar dynamic in that way.

this is all also complicated by everything that happens in bridge to the turnabout, obviously, from pearl being forced to essentially attempt murder on maya (AGAINST HER WILL) to pearl eventually channeling mia during the trial. it's just. everything to do with the family is so complex but i love that maya is kind of the hinge, how everything revolves around her, and how she shares with phoenix this trait of fierce love for people, especially with pearl. she never ever lets the fucked-up history of her family or morgan's whole thing interrupt her love and care for pearl and it just fucking gets me man.

For the art trademarks thing: Sick ass watercolours, and a sort of style that makes it realistically soft? Like I love the shapes and the way you draw bodies and scars

Fun development: with watercolor it’s harder to do that thing where the scars wind up kind of lighter than surrounding skin which happens a lot too but now that I’m doing some digital I found a different way of painting it that I think looks neat

tooru has metallic slightly color shifting hair! its mostly pink but can be seen as yellow or purple depending on the angle! also bright yellow eyes nd tan skin!  i just wanted to keep her cutesy hehe

Hmmm… I usually come up with more info on the charactersas I draw them. Ryoma is kind of a hard character though since he is one of theonly ones with such a big backstory that has shaped him to the person he is.

Right now, in the talentswap, I see him as this “ignoranceis a bliss” kind of character; where he is really depressed by how the worldworks and how much bad happens in the news and the societal fight between thetalented and the regular folk. 

He feels his inventions aren’t doing enough goodand fears they will be used against people… again.
