Product Design and Development
When I start a new class, I try to keep an open mind in what to expect during the course. Although there is a syllabus, I take each week as it comes so that I can absorb as much as I can while reading articles and watching clips in the lesson. I also try to set a new goal for myself. I want to better myself each week, as far as knowledge and personal gain so that I can successfully launch a business. This month in Product Design and Development my goal was to learn about the development aspect of a startup. I didn’t much are about the design part of the course, but I kept my mind open and knew it was still important. I know that everything I learn will be useful to me now and sometime in the future.
This week I was able to learn about the Unique Value Proposition (UVP). The UVP is part of the Smart Start canvas that allows me to development my business and ideas as they come along. The UVP is just one of the many sections that go along with the Smart Start canvas. Being able to focus on just one section at a time has helped me better understand how to develop a strong UVP. I am able to explain what it is I am trying to do with my services. I was able to develop a UVP using method 2 and 3 in the Creating a Value Proposition - We Love Lean article.
With the Zag method, I was able to pinpointwhat my brand is selling and whom it targets.
Our brand is the only themed event planning company in the Pacific Northwest that will allow customers to customize their event with any themed based on movies, music, video games and pop culture/entertainment that they love.
While focusing on the benefits on the final product, I was able to communicate with consumers what they could get if they use my services.
Customized themes based on movies, music, video games and pop culture/entertainment that they love.
Packages basics on needs, income or services needed for the event
One on one sessions to ensure everything is on time/ schedule
Creating dream event, wedding or party based solely on individual (or joint parties’) references to specific genres, desires, inspirations, loves, motivations and more.
There are more benefits that will be featured with my services. However, I will need more time to development and understand my consumers so that I can add more the benefits that they will want or need. Found that development is important and VERY essential part of doing business. Although there many be times where I thing I might know everything, I am DEAD wrong. The saying goes ‘If you are the smartest person in the room, then you are in the wrong room’. I never want to be the smartest person in the room because I always strive to learn something new everyday. By learning about the UVP, it helped me identify my target market and consumers in writing.
With that said, I will continuously learn and develop my business skills with the material I have encountered this week. I will use it both professionally and personally because the rules that I have read in Can Building Great Products Help You Build Great Teams? canbe use for building a great team with effective leadership as well as forming friendships and connections outside of work.
