Eva didn’t often dream, but when she did they were always memorable. She had a series of dreams where she would climb a tower and meet a familiar person at the top. There was one dream where she was a pirate on the high seas, and people looked at her in fear and awe. She had a few dreams where she was the lead singer of a famous band that was on tour. All the settings of the dreams gave her deja vu. She had never been on a pirate’s ship or a tour bus, but she went through the dream as if it was the most natural thing in the world.
The scent of smoke and sounds of gunfire didn’t phase her at all. What did concern her was the feeling that someone was missing, but she had no idea who. She just knew that she had to find him. He could get hurt in a place like this. He wasn’t trained as a soldier like she was. Eva kept her head low to avoid the bullets as she ran. She ducked for cover behind a pile of logs. He could be hurt, and it’d be all her fault. She should have told him to stay home and stay safe. She kept her bayonet at the ready. It didn’t once occur to her that she had never fired one before. She somehow felt that she knew how to use it. Where the hell was he?
