Unit Reflection
This unit we learned about Core Competencies, First People Principles of Education, and how we learn and what we value. Along with that, we also learned about Residential Schools and basic writing and PowerPoint making. I think I did relatively well this unit, and I am proud with most of the work I did. One goal I have for next unit is to improve everywhere I think I could’ve done a better job at, and to put the First People Principles of Learning and Core Competencies to work.
My Work
Core Competencies
I feel like a good showing of my understanding of Core Competencies would be the reflection I did on what Core Competency I feel the strongest in. I chose it because I demonstrated my understanding with personal experiences, making my showing of my understanding stronger. It demonstrates my learning as it shows my understanding of the Core Competencies, what they mean, and shows my understanding and growth as a creative thinker.
First People’s Principles of Education
A perfect showing of my understanding of First Peoples’ Principles of Learning, and what I think was the best work I did this unit, was my presentation on on of the Principles. I chose it not only because I think it was my best work this unit, but because I think I showed my strengths well while working on it. I think this subject shows my learning and growth as it showed how I began wanting to know how I could improve my learning by using things like the Principles of Learning.
Writing
I feel like a strong showing of my writing would be the paragraph I did on whether or not science proves or disproves God. I think I stated my opinion clearly, and that I had some strong points. I chose this because I felt like it was a strong example of my writing skills and shows my knowledge of the subject and my growth into writing about more controversial topics and topics that matter to me as a Catholic instead of avoiding them.
