Honest Hearts
Even if she’d been the one to send the order form in, and thus the one to specify certain rather private details as well as obvious bits anybody could see, this arrival had come as a bit of a shock. She’d been the one to transfer large payments from certain specific sources she’d really rather not discuss, but it still didn’t prepare her for what was to come. After all, three fictional characters had been sent to her lonely, upscale, middle-class house. Or more particularly, robots patterned after Vocaloids had shown up at the front door; rather than being shipped in ominous, insulated, coffin-style crates, the Company sent them to walk under their own power nowadays.
When Sara had answered the bell, she had been thus presented with very distinct three individuals.
There was a girl shorter than herself (as usual) on the left, sporting iconic bright teal twin-tails, a big smile, and a loose-fitting t-shirt and jeans over a toned, sleek body frame. There was no mistaking her design. Even people who didn’t follow anime or geek culture knew of Miku Hatsune. Beside this national pop idol, in the middle, with long, blindingly pink and fluffy hair, was her counterpart Luka Megurine. Her figure was barely contained by her white ribbed sweater and black yoga pants. She stood taller than Miku, although she didn’t come quite up to Sara’s towering stature... but her body was far softer, smoother, and more generously curvy.
To the right of the two girls, and no less feminine, was the third and final ‘item’ that had been ordered via secured payment. Gakupo, although this particular unit had been very heavily customized. Most of the emphasis of the order, and the way it varied from the standard settings, concerned his girly hourglass figure, soft face, and even his nickname, Lapis. Normally, he’d have matched or slightly exceeded Sara’s height, but that had been adjusted; Lapis was a touch shorter than Luka. He was wrapped in a blue butterfly-patterned kimono, which contrasted with the casual clothes of the other two units.
When Sara had opened the door, she’d been greeted by all three of them at once. when they realized that, each blushed or laughed, and then pulled back, talking over each other until finally both of the others yielded to Luka.
“Hello, Miss. We’ve been sent to your home to live with you. It’s wonderful to finally meet you in person!” Introductions, after which the three had been allowed to come in, set up in the living room, and offered something to drink. There they now sat, waiting in anticipation for the reaction of their new owner, any orders or requests she had, ground rules, or anything they’d need to know.
Their new lives began the moment Sara answered the door. This was true for her as much as the robots.
