Online Portfolio Evaluation

Overall, I think the Unit went well. In my eyes at least, the website looks how I had originally planned: minimalistic, easy to access and professional. I stuck to my original plans almost exactly which I am quite surprised with seeing as I have a tendency to change everything quite radically. 

I didn’t really run into any problems mainly due to the fact that I have used Wix in the past for a school project, so any hiccups I ran into were quite easy to overcome.

I enjoyed using Wix.com and found it very easy to use. The User Interface was well laid out allowing me to quickly and easily find everything I needed. I feel that Wix gave me the opportunity to create a professional-looking website that was everything I needed. 

I created a number of accounts on social media sites which I hadn’t really planned to do but ended up giving my website a much more professional feel.

I created a Tutorial on Ambient Occlusion Rendering which wasn’t too difficult although I think it may have been a wiser choice to make a video instead of it being text-based.

For the pre-production of the website, I was looking through a large number of 3D modelling online portfolio’s to get a solid idea of what I wanted mine to look like. I ended up taking elements from my favourite online portfolio’s to create a large mash-up of what I think works well and looks good.

This is the link to my website, I changed it from my idea as i did not have enough images in order to fill what in wanted to fill but i kept it as basic as possible with not as much writing so that people would not get too bored reading constant writing. I have added in most of my work for my projects as well as a few of my own bits there are also link to my youtube channel where my videos are.

Website evaluation

Were were assiented to create a website on the site wix to post are work and explain about are self and what work we do  making links to are work and other sites who publish work. My idea was to keep a same coulor scheme and rearrange a lot of what was already pre set for me did not change a lot I had my solid idea down and stuck to it. I used the website wix to make my site as that was the easiest and quickest way of making a site for are needs. Nothing when to wrong as most of my links worked fine and everything is setup how I wanted it. If I did it over I would change the style of it and add more description in each pages. Over all it could of bean better but It was my first time using this new site.

Examples of Digital Communicating in the Creative Industry;

In this modern age there are many different ways to communicate with other people; all of which can be used for different reasons and in different ways.

Tumblr -

Tumblr can be used as a social media website or as an online portfolio. By using it as a portfolio many people will be able to see what kind of artwork that you do. This is also a very good way to show your work to online companies to see what kind of style of work that you do.

Behance - 

Behance is basically an online protfoilo that will enable people from the creative industry to look at your artwork. It isn't really used for any written work for it is just an online portfolio, however it is a website where people do get recognised and can sometime lead into getting hired.

Youtube -

Youtube is international meaning that people all over the world will post different things in hope that they will be noticed/ watched by many different people. This is a good way to promote your work because it's where you can upload your animations so you can kind of use it as a show reel.

 Facebook -

Just like Tumblr, Facebook is a social media site that you can use as a portfolio for your work. By creating your own page people will then be able to follow you and the work that you do. It is often used for socializing with friends and letting them know what your doing that day, nut it can be used for business purposes as well.

In this document I have composed all the things that I will do to my website once I have set it up. I have thought up of having a dark background because most of my work tends to be in black and white with the occasional coloured photo, so by having the dark colours in the background my pictures will stand out a bit more. I picked the theme that I did because I thought that the theme looked quite professional and tidy, giving off a decent standard of work will be produced.

Task 1 digital communication

What is digital communication?  Digital communication can come in many different forms like E-mailing, Sending messages on Facebook, posting videos online and video chatting over the internet on applications like skype.  Where you would need to use digital communication. You can use digital communication for a number of other useful things such as communicating while playing a video game, to talk to your team and communication strategies etc. Other things such as business calls or conference over skype, if you were in a large business and could not all make it to a different country for the conference. You can use skype and Facebook to video chat both have their pros and cons for example skype is mainly used for video calls and has a more clear picture and audio when compared to Facebook chat which has a sub-par experience when it comes to audio and video quality calls. There are other downsides to using these as it all depends on the internet speed as you don’t want to have it crashing or lagging while you are in important calls  Things like Twitter can be used to post updates or post your thoughts on a particular subject. This can be useful to update businesses for those who are following the account would be able to see new updates when posted. For example if there was a meeting it would be posted on Twitter for all the company followers to see. Other people use it for leisure like following their fans from movies, or a brand and when they post they can repost it to get extra attention. Tumblr is a blogging site, so like Twitter you can post things to Tumblr on a larger scale. You can post links to other videos such as YouTube links, share things, post art, anything you want its limitless. This can be particularly useful if you wanted to keep up with a company’s work. For example you are producing Art you can keep up to date with the latest works from the producer. Facebook is a site much like the rest but with a lot of added features like messaging, groups and video chat. You could use Facebook for your company as you can make a private Facebook group and would be able to post to only people in your group so any announcements or anything would solely be for the people in that group. Most of these apps are not just on your pc but on phones or tablets so you can access these anytime anywhere when you are out and about. And instead of these apps you can use your phone which is a form of digital communication for texting. You can use this for texting your workers about important things or phone them.

 Facebook was invened in 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg  and other colleges in his collage dorm it was invented. Facebook was originally created for a rating weather people were attractive or not it was dramatically changed over the years. The main target audience  are from 13 and on wards. Facebook is quite popular but it varies on different people some use to for messaging others some use it to keep up to date with there friends and see what they are posting. Over all it’s a place people can be look up and keep in contact with friends and keep up with gossip and post more or less anything.
