Here we go. Even before the general election has happened, neoliberal centrists are already wanting to appease conservative white voters and Republicans.
This article actually had the nerve to call Mitt Romney a “moderate” Republican. It’s Machiavellian, really. Romney doesn’t often SAY as many openly crazy things as other Republicans, so therefore journalists call him a moderate. As if Romney wasn’t the Republican nominee who ran against Obama. As if Romney didn’t advocate for draconian laws that would encourage the mass “self-deportation” of leagal immigrants. As if Mott Romney didn’t protest the college students who protested the Vietnam war, while he got a “rich boy” deferment. As if Mitt Romney didn’t eagerly apply for a position on Donald Trump’s administration. (I’m really tired of Democrats always rehabilitating the image of Republicans).
NPR gave the author of this article a whole hour to opine about why Democrats need to embrace Republicans. SMH.
You will never ever catch Republicans offering this kind of an olive branch to Democrats. But unfortunately, conservative Dems are always trying to “reach across the aisle” and “compromise” with the regressive right.
I know that this is an opinion piece, but remember: Joe Biden himself said that he would consider a Republican running mate. So this is about par for the course.
I’ve said it before and I’ll keep on saying it: The so-called “liberal” media is controlled by conservative billionaires, and more importantly, the Democratic Party has been infiltrated by Republicans ever since Bill Clinton. Reagan “Democrats” (aka, Republicans) are running the Democratic Party.
I only wish that establishment Democrats fought the right as hard as they always always always fight the left.
