I chose this bit from the Universal Migrator. Colonialist being doomed to his fate speaks to me. Poor dude was so hopeless alone in Mars.

Ayreontasia Inktober Day 17-18: Favourite Headcannon

"Most of the time, my lucky star was hard to notice amongst the vast sea of constellations. However, on the night I pushed the Dream Sequencer to its limits it shone brighter than ever, filling me with unexplainable hope... Now, I glance at planet Y's sun - seemingly the only thing that's able to evoke a semblance of emotion on the empty-eyed faces around me. And somehow, I know in my heart just one thing - this is the same light that I searched for every night back home..."

The Mars coloniser's favourite star turns out to be the star of Sirrah. That's it, that's all. Since planet Y is said to be in the M31 galaxy (Andromeda), it's not entirely out of the picture, I believe. Excuse my lack of skill at writing in English.

To top it off, taking a picture of the drawing was immensely stressful. 😂 (Background still looking weird huh...) The whole thing is in my "comfortable" format - 15x15cm, a not-so-small but also not-so-big illustration (perfect for obsessing over the details, haha). I used both ballpoint and fountain pens.

Would you believe that only after I made this did it come into my head to look up whether or not Lapras is a dragon-type Pokémon? Demotivated me from adding subtitles, but adding subtitles would also distract from Lapras on screen so I guess that's a W.

Look, just because Lapras isn't technically, categorically, taxonomically a dragon-type Pokémon doesn't mean that Lapras and dragons can't share determining character traits.

I guess Shadow Weaver has an army of Lapras now.

Song is Dragon on the Sea, by Ayreon. Which I feel a bit silly for using now. Not very silly. Not silly in a bad way. Just a bit silly.

Ayreontasiatober days 29-30: Favorite Ayreon Story

And it’s the Forever Saga :) I didn’t have a single good way to depict the FULL scope of this epic storyline, but here is Forever of the Stars, with the Electric Castle and Dream Sequencer in the background, truly and desperately trying to find a way to experience humanity again. And in a way, that’s what Ayreon is all about. Who are the silhouettes in the background? Past incarnations of the Mars Colonist/Migrator? People from the Electric Castle? Other Forevers? People from Alpha? It’s really up to you - but I left them shadowed on purpose since it’s all about your humanity and what YOU do with it.

Some of you may have seen this one (I did it while watching the Ayreon Q&A/stream in September)! The month is almost over and I still have one more art to post but I did want to share that, thinking about the whole Forever and Ayreon story as a whole, it really has come to mean SO much to me over the past couple years. The music (and music styles I've gotten into as a result), the hyperfixation and headcanons, the wonderful community of fans with whom I’m doing this challenge - but especially the notion that life HAS meaning, and YOU have the power to make it a better and more meaningful place.
