Prompt 20 with Good Ending Saeran? Probably MC saying it, but up to you!
LOVE this prompt; I DEFINITELY have felt the stress that MC is feeling in this little short haha so this was very nice to write because I wish I had Saeran to help me when I was in school LMFAO - luna xx
The only light in the living room that kept you company was the bright LED ones coming from your laptop, hands running through your hair as you tried your best to stay awake. You had a test on your least favorite subject tomorrow, and no matter how hard you tried you just couldn’t retain anything.
You’d spent countless hours looking over your notes, going over the shared power points online, and asking fellow classmates for help but it just wouldn’t. stick. At this point you were running on energy drinks and a couple of hours of sleep a night, the stress keeping you up because you just had to study.
You felt bad really; your relationship had suffered for the past few days as you prepared for this test. Saeran was worried, and rightfully so; no matter how many times he tried to get you to relax, you refused. Failing this test meant failing the entire course for you, and you were not going to take this class again if it could be helped.
Speaking of your loving boyfriend you heard his footsteps coming down the hall, your legs that were crossed on the couch slowly starting to bounce with anxiety. You already knew what he was going to say; “Come to bed, MC. Rest will help.” He was right, really he was; but you just couldn’t do it. Any time spent resting could be spent studying, and you wanted to make the most of it as you quizzed yourself once more on the thirteenth chapter.
“MC? You’re still awake?” You only gave a brief nod, mumbling to yourself as you switched from your laptop to the notebook beside you. He sighed as he rubbed his eyes, adjusting his sweatpants and turning on the light. You squinted a bit from the light change but otherwise remained unfazed, your eyes briefly flickering from the scribbles on your notebook to your boyfriend.
You noticed that he was only wearing sweats, his lean but toned muscles catching your attention for a short moment before you shook your head. Focus, focus. He sat next to you, using his hands to rub across his face before resting them on his chin as he looked at you. He frowned at the dark circles that formed underneath your eyes, your thinned out cheeks from the lack of self care from all the studying you were doing. He sighed, leaning against your shoulder as he gazed at the screen.
He was met with equations and theories he’d only seen on TV, slight disbelief taking over his features because wow, people actually learned this stuff? No wonder you’d been working non-stop to make sure that you didn’t have to do it again. Yet, he was still worried; he knew better than anyone what overworking yourself could do to not just your body, but your mind.
His arms stretched out as he yawned, resting one of them over your shoulders as he slightly pressed down. His bicep rested against the curve of your neck, causing you to halt your scrolling only for a moment, biting your lip as you continued. It’d been a while since you’d been able to snuggle up against Saeran and just rest with him, and that alone was enough to make you realize how much your back hurt from all the slouching; how your legs ached from being crossed for so long.
“Saeran...” You warned, inching slightly away from him as he looked at you. Your eyes never left your studying material, and that only encouraged him to continue. He gave another deep breath as he slouched down, spreading out his legs while he ran his free hand through his hair. Your gaze was diverted once more, honing in on the gray sweats he wore and how comfortable it would be to sit in his lap like you used to before this class consumed your entire being.
You physically shook your head, groaning as you brought your hands up to your forehead and pressed hard. He was making things extremely difficult and he knew it; irritation growing inside you as well as something else as you hid your face in your hands while slouching down.
“Saeran, I love you, but I need you to go away because you’re really bloody distracting and I have to pass this test tomorrow.” You whined, hands flying from your face when you felt your laptop disappear from your lap and be placed softly on the coffee table. Your eyes were wild with anger and nerves as you looked at him, his gaze filled with worry as his soft teal eyes stared into yours.
“You can yell at me if you want to. Scream. Cry. Hit me, even. But you have to go to bed. At this rate, you’re going to fall asleep during your test and you’ll be even more upset than you are right now.” His words had never rang with more truth, and that fact alone upset you even more as your lip started to quiver, tears pooling into your eyes as you sniffed.
“I just don’t want to take this class again Saeran. It’s so stressful, but I need it to get the degree I’ve been working so hard for...” You trailed off, all the stress and frustration that had been building finally releasing as you sobbed.
“Oh, honey...” He gently moved your notebook out from between you two as he took you into his arms, bringing you into his lap as he cradled you and held you close.
“You’ve been going over the same material for two weeks now; it has to have stuck somewhere in that beautiful mind of yours. But nothing will stick unless you let your brain do what it needs to do. Let’s go to bed, get some rest. I’ll help you review before you have to leave for class, yes?” He questioned, pulling away so he could look into your eyes.
You looked up at him, his calm and reassuring gaze pulling you out of the cloud of worry and doubt that you’d been lost in this entire time. You felt like the worlds biggest idiot; how could you completely ignore Saeran, when he was partly what you needed this whole time?
“I’m sorry I’ve been so distant. I swear I’ll do better—” He pressed one of his delicate fingers against your lips, his lips pursed as he softly shushed you while shaking his head.
“Don’t worry about that right now. Let’s get to bed.” Before you knew it he had lifted you into his arms, your head leaning against his chest as you felt the drowsiness start to kick in already. He used his knuckles to press the light off in the living room, and by the time he’d made it to the bedroom you were fast asleep, soft snores escaping your lips while he smiled. He tucked you in first then slid in right beside you, his strong arms encasing you and squeezing gently as he pressed his lips against your hair.
“Goodnight, MC. Sleep well. I love you.”
