In his famous Sermon on the Mount, Jesus distinguishes two types of disciples marked by very different traits. The first group pursues the will of God and embraces poverty, hunger and insults for the sake of the gospel. Forsaking worldly comforts, these believers grieve over the lost generation.The second group is driven by the present needs of life - striving for material riches, earthly comforts and popular approval. Temptation! We all face it and we all have to learn how to resist and overcome. Even Jesus was tempted by the devil. The scriptures assure us that Jesus was tempted in every way, just like we are, and yet he did not sin. Because Jesus was tempted just like we are, He is able to sympathize with us in our weakness. He had also set the example for us by overcoming and resisting every temptation through prayer. We all struggle with fear from time to time, but the good news for us is that God gives us a way out. God wants us to live courageously and has given us everything we need to do just that. All we have to do is call on God for the power, love, and strength we need to face any of our fears. Jesus teaches his disciples how to pray and gives three important points for how to approach our Heavenly Father. He teaches how to start our prayer with worship; how to learn to receive the daily living word for our life, and receiving the bread of life. He also highlights the importance of asking for forgiveness and releasing forgiveness through the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. For God to entrust us with the destiny He has designed for us, we have to learn to stay alert in the place of rest. What will you do when things start working for you, what will you do when the desires of your hearts are being realised? Will you stop praying, will you stop trusting God? Worship is a time when we pay deep, sincere, awesome respect, love, and fear to the One who created us. Worship helps us develop God-like and Christlike characteristics. When we worship God, we develop traits such as forgiveness, tenderness, justice, righteousness, purity, kindness, and love. What a comfort it is to know that Christ intercedes for us in heaven. It is important because the devil will come and incite us to sin and later accuses us of unworthiness to approach God's presence. The Bible says the devil accuses us before God, day and night.
