this fight was soooo gooooood!! I love fights where the villain uses psychological warfare!!!
This fight is also interesting for how it elaborates on the bits and pieces that Megumi has dropped about her character/why she is the way she is while simultaneously making her face her greatest fears as a result. Since she was a child, she placed a lot of responsibility on herself to care for and help her sick mom, so much so that helping others even to the point of neglecting her own needs became her happiness.
She hasn't really talked about it with the other Cures in ways other than vague or fleeting references to her sick mom, but this fight points out how kinda messed up it is to base your self-worth solely on how useful you can be to others. In that way, I think that Megumi is a really interesting character--the show points out the inherent sadness in living for others to the point where Megumi knows it, too, but the show also acknowledges that this is legitimately how she feels happiness instead of putting the onus on her to change. In that way, she is an inherently flawed character, but that "flaw" of unwavering devotion to others is what will also save the world from certain destruction.
also, props to the seiyuu for Lovely/Unlovely (as I assume its the same seiyuu for both), as she did a fantastic job in this fight keeping Megumi's pattern and tone of speaking while adding a sinister twist to make it clear that it's her darkest side!!
