I just had a thought for a fic I might or might not write (irl is busier than hell) but eh, might as well get it out here.

“The reward for all the missions is a wish.”

We saw in LOTM with Merlin Hermes how the wording of wishes have an impact on how the wish itself unravels. The old tale of "Be Careful What You Wish For".

So, the question was : and if the wish could be granted before The Fool went to sleep ? Then, what would Leonard wish ? And what could go wrong with something supposed to be a simple wish ?

And then, it hit me : Leonard wants Klein. Not obligatory in a shipping way, although LeoKlein is dear to my heart but the want, the need is here.

And so, what could be more simple than "I wish to get Klein Moretti back" ? And how could this simple wish go so terribly wrong ?

And it ultimately boils down to two things :

Firsrly, in my opinion, "Klein" became way more than a person for Leonard, to the point of becoming something akin to a concept. "Klein" is the Tingen Era, with the other Nighthawks, Captain Dunn alive and when Leonard didn't have to worry about advancing his Sequence or the impending Apocalypse. "Klein" is an acquaintance, playful banter and teasing, snooping to try to dig secrets and digging for half-truths.

"Klein" is when Leonard was the one leading the way, the one with seniority, the one who knew things and knew better.

When Leonard was "strong" and dependable rather than an afterthought struggling to keep up with Klein's unrelenting advancement.

Which leads us to the second point : Klein Moretti ceased to be Klein Moretti the moment Zhou Mingrui transmigrated into his corpse.

But Leonard doesn't know that (at least if we don't take into account the side-stories).

The only "Klein Moretti" that Leonard knew was Klein "Is-Actually-Zhou-Mingrui" Moretti. And ZM-Klein's growth and knowledge was something that was only possible because he was first ZM.

So now, back to Leonard's wish : "I wish to get Klein Moretti back". It's a simple wish, isn't it ?

The thing is, Klein knows that Leonard refers to ZM-Klein, the one he got to know and share experiences with back in Tingen, the one that then became Sherlock Moriarty and Gehrman Sparrow. Leonard want that Klein back, the one that went "asleep" seemingly due to The Fool. But it's not something that can be granted, as this Klein is also secretly The Fool.

But sticking to the words itself rather than the meaning implied behind it... Eh, that could be feasible, don't you think ?

So, I want Leonard to get his wish granted. I want him to get "Klein Moretti" back.

But not Klein "Is-Actually-Zhou-Mingrui" Moretti.

Klein Moretti.

The one Before. The Original One. The forgotten one, whose existence only survived as scrap memories merged with Zhou Mingrui's own identity. The one that continued to live in Melissa and Benson's memories.

I want him to get back a Klein Moretti both familiar and unfamiliar in all the best and worst ways possible and trying to navigate around this familiar stranger all over again, knowing that something went wrong but not knowing exactly why. Because after all, he got his wish fulfilled.

He got Klein Moretti back. Bur he got him back wrong (or he think so, at least).

TLDR : I want Leonard to wish to get Klein Moretti back but instead of getting Zhou Mingrui as Klein Moretti, he gets the Original Klein Moretti back.

Enid "Elpis" Ainsley

A Doctor of Chaos (Harmony/Fire) originating from the Xianzhou Luofu. She is one of the Heliobi that separated from Furynox during the Fyxestroll event. Just like the Chess Ghost, she was deemed harmless by the Ten-Lords Commission (because she saw IX and turned into a Doctor of Chaos almost on the spot) and let roam free, being even allowed to leave Xianzhou after having made a deal with them.

Enid is obsessed with the concept of "becoming human". As an Heliobi, she does not possess her own emotions and no innate moral or ethical system and she believes that emotions and moral/ethics could be the key to "cure" IX. As a non-human, she then decided to use herself as her own test subject to try to learn "Humanity".

As her challenge to IX, she asked to be sealed in a doll-body, cutting herself from possessing hosts to feed on their emotions, in order to learn how to feel her own emotions + "to exist is to suffer" as Heliobi have a certain level of repulsion against advanced technical equipment due to their ability to manipulate energy.

She decided to attach her existence to none other than ✨ Veritas Ratio ✨ (and I'm sorry Enid, you cute but your taste is shit)

After reading all of Lord of the Mysteries, I decided that while I was at it, reading Circle of Inevitability would be a nice follow-up for more in-depth world-building of other regions besides the Loen Kingdom.

For now, it's really good, I like it a lot even if I think I'll miss dearly to see the Tarot Club members more regularly (there's my girl Fors in the first chapters tho, which is great).

I WASN'T EXPECTING FRENCH THO.

As a French person reading mostly in english nowadays I was quite flabbergasted to see goddamned French pop up in my very respectable English translation of COI.

This will definitely be very funny when I'll get to writing fics for this fandom.

December in Libraries SUCKS (or a quick lesson about what's going on inside your libraries)

And I say that as a librarian that love their job but dear fucking lords above, December sucks. Because besides holidays and Christmas and things, it mostly means : BUDGET ENDS.

So that all of our commissions in charge of buying are trying to empty their enveloppe. And that following the logical course of things....

ALL THE ORDERS ARE COMING AT THE SAME TIME.

So I just finished equipping 37 mangas for the kid's section and 10 comics for the adult section.

I still have 34 mangas for the adult section in the waiting shelf because the commission needs to create and import the general notices under which the "copy" notices will be created.

(To put it simply : One Piece Volume 1 will be a general notice with author, summary and inside this notice, each copy of the "One Piece Volume One" manga existing in the library network will have it's own notice with its barcode and localisation. General Notice is to find thing in the catalog while copy notice is to loan and put on hold a document.)

Anyways, still 34 of those waiting (and 20 additional I didn't count because they are stuck in a notice limbo problem and taken care of by the commission rather than little me).

But then, the end-of-budget orders arrived all at once (and I'm pretty sure there will be at least 2-3 more) and now I have, in addition to those 34 in waiting :

77 mangas, divided into 46 for the adult section and 31 for the kid section

37 comics for the adult section

And to give an idea of what "equipping" means, i.e what I do :

Receive the order

Verify that everything is alright between the purchase order and the delivery note (number of copies, list of titles, price)

Validate the reception in the order software (for the commissions) AND in the traking table (for the managers and finance department)

Slap a barcode on each document. If the commissions already did the general and copy notice, link each document to its own notice (searching the document on our software with its EAN to find the general notice linked to said EAN which gives you the list of the copy notice under said general notice, find the one corresponding to your library and input the barcode in the copy notice to attribute the document to its notice). If no notices yet, directly to the next steps.

Once the barcode is here, you can also smack down the RFID chip and link it to the barcode so when you put the document on the loan machine, it reads the RFID which pull the barcode number which links to the notice which make the machine recogniae what you're trying to loan.

After that, outside equipment means creating the tags/labels. Each tag on a book is basically its adress when you're searching for it in the physical shelves of your library. For non-fiction and documentaries we usually use the Dewey Decimal Classification. Example : a travel guide to Italy will be under 914.5 (900 is History/Geography class, 910-919 is travel, 4 should be Europe (continent) and .5 is Italy iirc my classes date a bit). For comics we use the letter B (comics are bande-dessinées in French) and then either 3 first letter of the author/illustrator if it's a serie or the first letter of the last name of the author/illustrator if it's a one-shot. So you usually have to manually fill label sheets and the style changes depending on the public (white for adult, pink line for toddlers (0-5), purple line for kids (5-12) and green lines for teenagers).

Once all the tags are smacked on their copy, you have two solutions also depending on your collection and type of document. Either you completly cover the book OR you only cover the tag and barcode and you fix the cover jacket so they don't get lose and call it a day.

When that is done, inside equipment : you stamp the first page with the library stamp + report the label (adress) aaaand you also note the month/year it was put into shelves so you can track down it's age for weeding purpose.

And when all that is done, you change the status of your document on the software from "Currently in Equipment" to "Available", sort out the ones that where asked to be put on hold for patrons in hour library (print ticket, put in hold shelf) or another library (put it in transit status and deposit in one of the transit crate going to the library in question).

And you do that. for each document.

And I have a whooping 148 (+20 in limbo) of those on my desk.

If someone ever call librarians lazy again and that we just read all day, I will commit murder and my weapon will be a book.

I honestly don't know what's more distracting, the fact that he actually know it's their birthday or his cleavage. Probably the cleavage.

Looking everything but respectfully, by the way. Cian put themselves in summer fashion too, which consist of short-sleeved T (it shows a bit their scars and they aren't that comfortable about it) and their hair in a ponytail to avoid sticky sweat at the nape but damn. They do take it to a whole other level.

I used my trip in Paris to get my grubby hands on this figurine of Sabito that I wanted a lot. And the figurine is incredible but JESUS FUCKING CHRIST BANDAI.

FUCKING POOR CHOICE OF PACKAGING.
