Haha oh nice! Just found out that the owner of the official Canadian distributor for Criterion movies sent out (apprx 5 months ago) a newsletter to email subscribers complaining about how politicized the last Oscars ceremony was and how basically actors should just shut up and accept their awards because no one wants to hear what they think, plus lots of additional stupid comments. Criterion got mad at him for it and he issued a stupid non-apology. I’m not sure which irritates me more, the actual comments themselves, or the fact that the guy running a freaking film distribution company appears to not even know his Oscar history. Either way I am inspired to now pay the extra money to just order directly from Criterion. Fuck that guy.

Company is Unobstructed View btw. You should also look up the letter he sent, it’s quite a thing. Guy’s name is Johnathan Gross which is fitting.

Edit: oh! This guy is delightful. On his personal blog are anti-mask Covid rants. How the hell did this asshole get Criterion distribution rights?

04/01/21 - Lost Dutchman State Park, AZ - UNOBSTRUCTED VIEW - It’s hard to believe that you can get an unobstructed view of the jagged Superstitions within just a thirty minute drive of a large metropolis like Phoenix, but you can. I’ve spent the last ninety minutes doing a bike ride through the rustic neighborhoods closest to the base of these mountains. When I arrived at this dead end, the unobstructed view in the early evening light was too much to pass up: had to stop and get the pic. Enjoy!
