The one update a year (sorry 💀)
Anyway, at long last, we have another chapter!
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
crash of worlds prey, unshaken predator.
i read somewhere (euphemism to i saw it on a tiktok/read it in a tiktok comment) that crash of worlds is the high honor version of the song while unshaken is the low honor version - paying attention to the lyrics of each song i've noticed why
crash of worlds - rocco deluca asks if they may be able to remain strong (stand unshaken) while the worlds crash, while unshaken - d'angelo asks if they may able to stand still while *the* world crashes.
the difference is subtle but it is there. The worlds rocco deluca's referring to are evil and good - the high and low honor, the fundamental internal conflict in the plot and arthur's story of seeking redemption. The fact that in d'angelo's there is just one may point towards the other focal point of the story: the van der linde gang. The gang is, in fact, arthur's world, and it is falling down. As he is falling more and more ill, so does the gang, and he is forced to watch and try to "stand as unshaken as possible" as his fate becomes the same as thomas downes'.
unshaken's lyrics also reference the prey/predator symbology (high/low honor respectively): "i was once standing tall, now i feel my back's against the wall" "will the hunter be hunted by the smoking gun?"
the "smoking gun" could be referring to the fact that arthur is doomed by his own actions - the hunter (arthur) being hunted (killed) by the "smoking gun" (a gun that has just been shot, in this case, not a bullet, but him beating up downes). The bullet is not made of plumb, but of tb.
i don't know if i've made myself clear. maybe i made some mistake with the grammar, english is not my first language. i made this rant like a month ago on bluesky but none of my friends there understand my rdr brainrot. so yeah thanks for reading!!!
