Way back on this episode of Now and Then New York, you may remember I tried to re-create the Times Square bustle that Frank Oscar Larson so beautifully captured here in 1954:

Well, a few days ago, I had the opportunity to flush out my original piece even more for Untapped Cities. This time around, I highlighted an eyewitness account of the events that once transpired at the infamous billiards parlor they called the 7-11. Now, owing to my lack of skill, I pretty much would have been hustled there during Larson’s time, but maybe--just maybe--the chance to have soaked in the place would have been well worth the six-pocket swindle.
