Unused Momoyo portraits from Unconnected Marketeers
I’ve double checked, but couldn’t find these portraits during the extra stage dialogue. Please take into consideration if the clothes are damaged or not when looking if the portraits were or weren’t used and if you spot a mistake here, notify me as soon as possible!
Leftover ending image from Wily Beast and Weakest Creature
Since Touhou games are build based on the previous title, many assets carry on to the next game. At times, some endings or character portraits/sprites end up in the newer game files, despite the fact that they aren’t supposed to be in the game. Such case is with Unconnected Marketeers, where an ending picture from Wily Beast and Weakest Creature can be found in the game files.
Unused Mike portraits from Unconnected Marketeers
There seem to be lots of expressions that Mike has which remained eventually unused in the game, but can be found in the files.
The sad and the sweat drop ones appear as a defeated portrait in the game, but there is a variant of it which doesn’t have damaged clothes. The angry one has the red thing in a different position.
As usual, if you notice a mistake here, please let me know as soon as possible!
Unused Megumu portraits from Unconnected Marketeers
I’ve checked many times, but couldn’t find these portraits of Megumu in any of the routes while playing Unconnected Marketeers. I suspect they are unused, but if you notice a mistake here, please tell me!
Please take into consideration if the clothes are damaged or not while looking for a portrait.
Other unused Misumaru portraits from Unconnected Marketeers
Besides the oddity detailed in post: /post/655363451899838464/, Misumaru seems to have other two facial expressions that are not used in the in-game dialogue: a tear expression with undamaged clothes, and a sweat expression with damaged clothes.
As always, I encourage you to notify me as soon as possible if you spot a mistake.
Unused Takane portraits from Unconnected Marketeers
Even though fewer than Mike’s, Takane seems to have lots of unused portraits that are present in the game files. Please take into consideration that there are two variants of the portraits: one with normal clothes and one with damaged clothes, when looking if they were used or not.
As always, don’t hesitate to correct me if you spot something wrong.
Unfinished portrait of Misumaru from Unconnected Marketeers
In Unconnected Marketeers, there are two variants of each facial expression: before and after the fight. Before the fight Misumaru has intact clothes, but after the fight, her clothes are damaged and she has a tear near her left eye.
Each “head” goes over the corresponding “body”, the base portrait. The damaged expressions have a “l” at the end of the file name and they will overlay on the base with a “l” at the end, in this case face04bsl. As you can see, the angry expression, face04anl, looks shifted.
You can observe part of the tear and very little of the red angry mark, but the image ends there. If it was displayed in game, it would look very odd, since Misumaru would have two heads, one floating awkwardly near the base portrait’s one.
But luckily, it doesn’t seem that the damaged angry expression has made it to the actual dialogue from the game.
Unused Sannyo portraits from Unconnected Marketeers
Even fewer than Takane, Sannyo still seems to have some unused portraits that can be found in the game files. Please take into consideration the two variations of the portraits (normal versus damaged clothes) when looking if they were used or not.
