Day 16, Sick/Unwell, of KPDH Advent Calander
With Polytrix

Taking this from inspiration when I actually did get sick before Christmas last year. Only catch was doing most of the work myself before letting my parents help me out.
Temperature is under Fahrenheit instead of Celsius.
Consider this included with Day 10 [Part 1] and Day 15 [Part 2]. A [Part 3] we can say.
Analyzing the thermometer, Mira sighs. “Yup, figures. Got yourself sick with 105 degrees.”
Grimacing, but that might have been your throat’s tickle that leads to coughing into the given blanket.
It’s unbelievable. You caught on to the symptoms yesterday ahead of time, and you’ve done your best to shut it down. Only for it to come right back at you the following morning. Thankfully, your symptoms have no connection to Covid, but you were definitely not going anywhere any time soon.
“Alright, I contacted Bobby to call your boss for a sick leave,” Rumi announces. At the same time, Zoey lifts and wrings out the cloth rag from the ice water, removing the excess to later fold and lay over your heated forehead. The contact brings out a little relief. “You are not going anywhere, honey.”
“And luckily, neither do we!” Zoey praises. “I mean, not really what to expect on your day off, but it’s great cause we’ll be able to take care of you all day! You still like Chicken Noodle soap, right?”
You wince at both the throat pain and discomfort on the idea of eating anything. “Yeah, but I don’t want to get you girls sick, too.”
“Not to worry! Got masks all prepared for us, including Bobby,” Rumi declares, passing a colored mask for everyone including you. You give a small smile at the cute design of cartoon fruits all over; yours also the only one with designs, separating from the plain, tinted colors the girls got.
“Besides, you always look out for us. Let us return that love,” Zoey expresses, smiling behind the orange mask she slips on. Then softens as you sneeze, passing the tissue box she bought prior with a softness perfect for your sensitive nose. “Let us take care of you.”
“But—”
“Nope,” Mira cuts off, wearing her cherry red mask that almost matches the dyed hair. “You’re in no position to argue. We’re taking care of your germ-spreading self whether you like it or not. Now, you rest while Rumi and I head out for necessities.”
“I’ll get started on the soup!” Zoey announces, hopping up.
“Maybe something that can settle Y/N’s stomach more? Like, something light? We don’t know if Y/N’ll be able to stomach it down,” Rumi offers, glancing over to you with a sympathetic smile.
“Yeah, that’s a good point…” Zoey goes into thought before snapping her fingers. “How about a little spread like those saltine crackers, plain toast—and with a cup of tea to drink!”
“Perfect.” Rumi then adjusts the blanket, pausing her actions when you cough before continuing and smoothing back your hair. “We love you, Y/N. You always do things for us without expecting anything in return, and honestly we want to.”
With a kiss on your hair and a squeeze on the shoulder from Mira, the two head out while Zoey goes to the kitchen to prepare, rummaging through the cabinets for the chosen snacks and keeping up conversations to remove the silence. The more she speaks, the more you not only invest with her voice but also melt into the couch, keeping hold to the lingering love from the girls.
It sucks being sick. Your throat hurts, your nose is stuffy, you feel groggy, an empty stomach all day feels efficient, and your forehead’s feeling hot and weighted despite the cool rag and the pillow behind your head. Despite all that, though, the trio’s love over you makes it bearable, telling you that you’re not handling this alone and hidden from their knowledge. They may not be nurses or doctors, but they’re human. And one of the qualities of being human is looking after each other, something you’re grateful on and touched by.
Sucks it had to be done during the holidays, but you can consider this an early gift to treasure as you rest and smile over the pain and aches.

Getting sick sucks, but can be manageable with loved ones willing to help you 😊😷
