UNWIELDY STORM: (IC) Entry Two
The woman was on the hunt for something to do. Restless and bored out of her mind. So much so that Storm had taken to picking the fur out of the collar of her jacket, and flicking the fuzzy remnants into the air. Then, blowing them away with a huff of air only to watch them float lazily to the floor.
With a heavy grunt, the roegadyn pushed herself up and headed out the door and off to Ul'dah in search of work.
Or, something.
Anything!
Along the streets of the Goblet, Storm came across a pair of lalafells working in the yard. The only reason the woman would pass them by was for the simple fact that they were so much smaller than she.
Their short stature made Storm nervous. That she'd stomp them, or break them. Luckily, the people were typically good at avoiding her feet.
Lifting a muscled arm in greeting, the hellsguard called to the pair. Who, each, returned her greeting in kind.
"Oi! Can I help you out? I'm pretty bored. Ain't lookin' for any sort of compensation." They seemed a bit startled by her loud voice, so she pointed one index finger to an ear. "Sort of deaf. You'll have to excuse my loudness. Can hardlyhear m'self speak."
The lalafell's exchanged looks, then smiled to the large woman. "Aye!" The female called back, beckoning Storm over. "Our neighbor behind us is a bit kookie, if ya know what I mean." She twirled a finger about a long ear in large circular motion. "S'pose she hits the shrooms a bit hard, and runs outside near naked and yelling to some foreign spirits we've never heard of."
"Anyroad," her male companion interjected, "Not to speak ill of our neighbors, but the other day she landed a broken crate right atop our roof. Ain't had the chance to get up there an' clean it up, but we figure it'd be an easy task for one of... Well, your size." The two chuckled together.
Unweildy Storm cracked knuckles in palms, rolled her shoulders, then firmly planted a fist in palm. "Aye! Ain't no task too heavy fer me!" And the roegadyn set off to fix the roof right up.
When the task was completed, along with a few other things here and there, the lalafells pointed their mighty helper in the direction of a "speakeasy" bar they'd heard of. Or rather, wrote the directions down on parchment. Storm thanked them, refused their coin, and headed off.
When Storm thought she's reached the right place, she pushed the door open and looked about the tiny entryway. Stuffed the parchment into a pocket. And stood there for a long while contemplating what to do.
There was an empty desk at the back of the room. But no doors. Which baffled the woman.
That is... until a xaela appeared, then disappeared behind a wall to the right of the room.
'Hah!' Storm thought, following the xaela's path.
When she reached the wall, she noticed a space where people had been coming and going. Squeezing behind it, she came face to face with a sea wolf wearing a suit. For a long moment Storm blinked at the man, who merely stared back at her. Silent.
Finally, she pushed a smug little grin to her lips and descended the steps into the lower level. When Storm found herself in the tavern, she was taken by surprise at the sheer sight of the place. The decor. Someone's intense infatuation with Merlwyb. And the welcoming staff.
Greeted by the highlander, Nez, Storm made her way to the back and took a seat at the bar. Where both tending the bar allowed the woman to drink her fill of several choices. Strong, cold ale. Full of flavor and foam.
It was later that Storm learned the names of each soul inhabiting the tavern. Sass, the white-haired and enthusiastic miqo'te. Hekkin the mastercrafter roegadyn of all the booze in house. Also the cook. Nez seemed to know his way around the drinks very well, even catering the drinking contest that ensued much later in the evening.
Krystal the young patron whom Storm beckoned to for someone to sit nearby.
All were welcoming, and kind. And Storm deemed the 'Nah Go' beer ((Naago's Delight)) her favorite for it's uncanny likeness to fresh coffee. With Krystal's drunken defeat by Sass in the drinking contest, Storm said her farewells and headed back into the city. Then, eventually home.
((Thank you Sass, Nez, and Hekkin for having me at your bar last night! You guys are amazing, and have a great setup!))
UNWIELDY STORM (IC) Entry One
The roegadyn was stout. Sturdy in frame and broad in stature. The same as most other females of this race. But because of their size, roegadyn's were sought after to deal with things the smaller races didn't want to.
Whether for fighting, heavy lifting, or guard duty. Storm had done it all. And she didn't much mind.
As a matter of fact... it might've gotten in her head a bit. Inflated the hellsguard's ego. She liked the attention.
But more than that, Storm enjoyed the rewards she got for completing the tasks she was given. Even sped through most of the jobs solely to obtain the "shiny" prize at the end. She didn't care what others thought.
Give the woman her fill of booze, fresh cooked food, and gil and not another soul on this star would be happier.
Although. There was one thing the hellsguard would love to have back. And that was her hearing, which she lost during a merc. mission to thwart an Imperial invasion during the reclaiming of Ala Mhigo.
Unfortunately... that couldn't be repaired. Storm had failed to flee an explosive in time, costing the woman something she'd taken forgranted most of her life.
This, mixed with her headstrong and overconfident personality earned her the name, Unwieldy Storm. She couldn't be reigned in, and sure as hell couldn't be told /not/ to run into every goddam fight head first, axe swinging.
does anyone actually like being 23?
