Went to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade for the first time yesterday. Got up at 3 am to get good spaces. It was cold, but it was fun spending the time with friends in NSE #uofscnse #nationalstudentexchange #macysthanksgivingdayparade #nyc #queenscollege (at Macy's 34th St. Herald's Square)
I SAW SOME NY RATS!!!!!
Okay.....Maybe I’m just weird, but one of the major things on NY wishlist was seeing a rat. Everyone has been telling me about them and how big they are, so I was super excited to possibly see one and I finally got to see a couple of them searching for food in the subway. I don’t think they were that big, but I wasn’t that close to them. THANK YOU NSE!!!!
FIRST NSE EVENT - SPIRIT CRUISE
So these next few post are super late, but I will be sure to post more on time in the future. This cruise was fun. The weather was perfect, the dinner was great and the sights were even better. Really enjoyed this event. Hopefully the others will be just as awesome.
AUDITION #2
The first audition was a bust, but honestly, I’m better off. I would have been back tracking if I got the Midsummer gig, which incidentally was a major lie anyway. Sure, it’s a stage gig in New York and even though it wasn’t going to pay, it would have been a great experience...if they didn’t lie about which characters were available. Nevertheless, the second audition was way better. I got to go inside the New York Film Academy. This place is awesome!!! From the little bit that I got to see, they seem to have some serious equipment and connections. Their students that graduate go on to work in awesome movies as part of the crews that make the magic happen. I feel like my audition went well. There is still room for improvement on my part and hopefully this opportunity will come my way so that I can grow.
DAY 5!
This was fun and it was only my 5th day in New York. There’s more to explore and see and my cousin already has plans to view more with me. Before going on this little trip, my cousin Brian said something very interesting. Generally, he said that it was a parent’s job to teach their children to hunt. If you don't hunt, then you don’t eat. If you don’t work hard, you can’t expect to amount to anything great. My mother raised my brother and I to be hunters and this “Concrete Jungle” doesn’t intimidate me. I have been experiencing some bouts of fear, but I choose to use that as fuel. I will conquer what this place has to offer. I am blessed to have a mother who continues to teach me to grow and pursue my dreams. I am blessed to have this opportunity and this desire to become a great actor and soon, I know I will be.
DAY 5!
Probably the highlight of this first trip into the main city was Time Square. Just like when I went to Disney World for the first time at 21, the Castle was more beautiful than I expected it to be in person. Time Square was no exception as well. You see something a good majority of your life in pictures and when your there in person, it’s like taking a trip to the moon and back in less than a minute. Breathe taking!
Day 2
Since I needed to get things to shower with (still gross), I got a MetroCard and went to Target. I had to walk through Chinatown to get there and back to the bus stop, but it was a fun experience to tackle on my own, and only two days in. Feels nice ending my day with a shower and some falafel.
That’s Marc E. Bassy right there. I still can’t believe I got so close to see him. I’ve been listening to him since I was a sophomore in high school and he even performed the first song I heard by him called Lock It up. Truly a great experience. B.
