Hi, what can you say about UP's Arki program? Can you give tips (the long, bulleted ones? hahaha lol jk but it's much appreciated tho) i'm legit planning to take up architecture kasi in the next 2 years haha and i'm already familar on UST's arki program so i need to know about UP's way naman. Also, what were your subjects back in freshmen year, can you also give a brief description of each? (Sorry if i ask too much) :) Thank you! 😊

1st year 1st sem Arki subjects:
ARCH 1 (Architectural Communication I: Mechanical Drawing)
- So as the name implies, it is mech. drawing so basically drafting principles. This subject is where you use most your T-squares, triangles, scale, rulers and other straight edge materials. You will develop your orthographic skills, line weights, learn how to use scale in drawings etc. My comment, work NEATLY cannot emphasize this enough! And come to class with all the materials needed because borrowing might slow you down. (Had fun with this especially bc our teacher is so chill haha but there are times when you just want to cry)
ARCH 2 (Architectural Communication II: Graphic Visualization and Representation Techniques)
-Again, as the name suggests this subject leans on the art side rather than the rigid drafting side of arki. THIS IS A LOT OF FUN! Especially if you love drawing/sketching or if you don’t know how to draw. You will learn to draw! Every meeting we learn new techniques about drawing. It is like art class basically. You will learn shading techniques, color combinations, how to use your markers, proportions of what you’re drawing etc. ENJOY THIS SUBJECT!!
ARCH 10 (Architectural Design I: Foundations of Design)
- This is where you work on your 3D models of your design ideas so goodluck! I also enjoyed this. My advice is you check out architectural magazines for designs and materials and research before you do your models so you can explain the designs thoroughly with their functions and not just a pleasing model. Another advice, think outside the box. The more unique the better, but of course, know when your design is a little overboard. Also aside from knowing the actual materials for the actual building you must know the right materials to use for your scale models. I suggest Joli’s and there’s also Jomar’s and Joyce.
I think my post is kind of long now haha. But the next subjects are about models again but mixed with digital presentation like photography, video presentations etc. Other subjects are history of architecture and of course your design subjects.
