Okay BIIIIIG lore dump ahead.
So, if you don't know yet, this is Odipus. (Picture below)
I've decided to call his species Arki (Pronounced arkai) or just Ark for indivuduals. I've made up some interesting facts about them throughout the day, which include but are not limited to:
Arki show their wealth and status by getting fat. Because, historically, a little bit of pooch was seen as a rich people thing since rich people had it good and had lots of acces to food. So, Arki will intentionally overindulge on food to show how rich and powerful they are.
Also another status thing, the richer families are usually so inbred that their horns cannot grow longer than five centimeter. A healthy Ark has horns that can grow up to around 45 centimeter and curve downwards throughout their life. But since the richer families have shorter horns, Arki may sometimes file their own horns down to look richer. Although this may cause pain and/or infections if not done correctly.
Their diet consists mostly of meat and bread. Occasionally they do eat vegetables, but those are usually only eaten by poorer families.
Their fashion is not important. They wear what is most practical. Which also means that women are not often seen in a skirt, most prefer pants due to the freedom it gives.
They prefer to live underground, but are sometimes seen living in huts above ground if they are, say, a traveler, or are unable to live underground for whatever reason. The royal family (which Odipus is part of) lives in a large grotto in the side of the mountain, overlooking the kingdom. Royal children are usually not allowed to go any further than the nearest village just below the grotto.
Young women usually wear red to show they are fertile and looking for a partner. They may also wear pink if they are looking for a non-sexual relationship. If they wear any other colour, they are most likely not interested.
Related to the previous fact; men may wear shirts with an open front to show that they are interested in a relationship, sexual or otherwise. This isn't really part of their culture but a lot of men started doing this to look more appealing. Not every man who does this is looking for a relationship, some just do it to cool off when it's hot out.
Children are often nicknamed EJ Pa or Keppa before they are born. Ej Pa means 'Small flower' in their language and Keppa means 'Yet to bloom' or 'Hasn't bloomed yet'. If a mother wants to, she can also give her unborn child a unique nickname, but that isn't common.
They keep giant rabbit-like creatures called Ukka as pets sometimes.
That's all for now. Will update if I think of more
