An attempt to merge this gray blouse with sequin embroidery and this golden cotton knit one.

Patterns I wanted to change: one was tight and long, the other very short and uncomfortable under the arm.

They’re old pieces, I wore them a lot, but lately they’ve been stuck in the closet.

This is my first experiment.

I wanted to add something special, so I thought of using this linen fabric with a bit of sequin texture, I felt the colors matched nicely with both the gold and the gray.

I took apart the sleeves of the golden blouse and cut them into strips to use as side panels, matching the linen.

I finished everything and it looked beautiful, but once I tried it on, it didn’t fall right, the linen was too heavy and distorted the drape of the gray blouse, and the sequins, which were already attached to a finished fabric, felt scratchy on the inside.

There was no way I was going to lose those pieces, so I unpicked everything while looking online for another garment with gold tones.

I found this gold and black blouse for a really low price.

So I changed the project a bit:

I cut it vertically down the middle and then horizontally just below the arm, removing the sleeves. I only used the lower part, one piece on each side, also attaching them to the bottom of the gray blouse.

Since the edges of the gold blouse looked nice even without stitching, I added the sleeve strips to the sides to make the piece wider.

It turned into a loose vest.

With some leftover scraps, I also made this necklace.

I loved doing this project simply because it brought back two beautiful pieces I no longer wore. All the history they carry is still with me — and now I’m adding even more to it.

That’s why I never throw away clothes I’ve worn before. There’s always a way to rescue, modify, or update old garments and make them even better than they were before.

My most recent upcycle! ~ this hat sat on a pile of clothes for mending for years because it once had a decorative flower that fell off and left glue residue on the surface. I covered the glue residue with embroidery and it really matches my insect gloves now which is great :)

The sun is separated by colours to represent sunrise and sunset.

Turned these curtains into a fun jacket! With a hoodie and a zipper, it’s up on my Etsy now too!

I whipped this jacket up out of a vintage curtain because the fabric was too good to waste! It’s a zipper hoodie with one button on the hood

I'm adding cozy sleeves to a jumpsuit that I made last year! ✂️🧵♻️

It doesn't work with the sleeves of this dress, but I made a corset tie top out of a duvet cover. I'm going to make a matching skirt too.
