The RED corduroy trousers... FINISHED
they are finally complete, my index finger has grown a callous from hand sewing so solid that if I where to poke someone they would think I threw a rock at them, I fear it will never return to normal, I may start to consider a thimble. I HATE thimble's. I don't understand them, I fear them.
anyway, again the process of taking photos was a nightmare, I had the genius idea of just filming myself posing in the trousers and them trying to grab freeze frames of the video, HOWEVER it terns out if you are constantly moving the freeze-frames will in fact show that movement... so please be gentle withe the photo quality lol.
also I ended up hand sewing a red cotton lining into the pants to protect the embroidery backing.
if you have any questions about the project, or advice/recourses on how to do things like this feel free to comment or message, I'm always happy to talk embroidery and up cycling fashion.
how to upcycle button pins
on a microbudget
I regularly aqquire pins from different events that i would never wear so every few months I'll have a session of turning them into cooler more personalised ones. this is super cheap and quick to do (+drying time)
you're gonna need
- fabric scraps
- prints, images, letter cutouts, stickers, acrylic paint
- E6000/hi-tack/modge-podge
- varnish/resin
that's it
step 1
cover the old button in fabric by spreading the glue on your fabric in a thin layer and sticking it onto the pin
make sure you take the time to press the edges inside, with thicker fabrics you might find clipping the edges to help with buckling of the fabric.
step 2
do whatever the fuck you want.
you can paint the fabric, you can collage on it, you can just glue one big sticker to it (make sure to put your strong glue on it), I reused mostly magazines, super old newspapers, some misprints, my brothers super old ID photo. make sure the paper is glued flush to the fabric. you can copy designs, you can make your own, you can do whatever the hell you want. if you need inspiration look at vintage pins they were something elseee
step 3
varnish.
put a sturdy varnish to protect them from the elements. i just had matt spray varnish so i used that, i do 2-4 coats depending on the type of paper used (more fragile ones get more coats). this might interact with the ink in prints in unpredictable ways, beware. if something got too dark just go back in with a little paint between layers.
let dry
step 4
thats' it. enjoy the second life of the useless gadget you got at a convention 7 years ago.

I downloaded Disco Elysium a little over a month and a half ago, and I'm happy to inform i have a new hyperfixation
So here is the SHIVERS jacket i painted:
We even had some sewing action with this one!
I removed the original sleeves cause they were too tight. For the fabric of the new ones i took apart an old skirt i didn't wear anymore, then i used the old sleeves as a pattern for the new ones (but cut it slightly larger ofc).
Its hand sewn with red thread, plus i reattached the original cuffs. I think it turned out really nice and I'm really proud of this one :)
🍃Eucalyptus print dress from an H&M tablecloth - I made this AGES ago and forgot to post!
🍃Self drafted bodice with inverted box pleat skirt. The tablecloth and buttons are both thrifted.
🍃Styled with thrifted silk shirt and agate jewellery 🌿
I have made my Goblin Ball mask!
Started with this old Halloween thing my brother said I could destroy
Which I then cut up (probably should have work goggles) and sanded and hot glued and painted and glittered
And then hot glued some more
And here it is!!! Ready to dance as the world falls down
