I’ve never written lyrics like this before. I’ve always wanted to try, and the process felt really special. Maybe I’ll write more stuff like this?

It’s been a wild decade.
hysto pre-op anesthesia appointment today
A ridiculously tall, older, teddy bear looking gentleman greets me with a professional, yet somehow tender, smile. I take a seat in his office. He compliments my beard and picks up the phone. A small and gentle voice answers. He calls her “my honey, my heart, my love” and then says, “Our patient for the 30th, ignore the chart. We’ll be using he/him pronouns, ok? Thanks, sweetheart.” He hangs up. Leans forward across his desk. We lock eyes. He says calmly but firmly, “I’m Gay. My nurse is a Lesbian. You’re in good hands. We take care of Family here.”
Community is strength, ya’ll. Being seen is powerful.

Forever grateful to Dr. Charles Garramone and his staff!
{TW: Hysto incision close-ups}
The steristrips are finally off 😪Unfortunately the adhesive left a not so cute rash, but the incisions are looking decent. They’d are slightly scabby, tender, still itchy, and my tummy is still a little swollen, but my hair is growing back and I’m a happy boi all the same. ❤️ #nofilter #hysto #oopho #ftm #trans #postop

Looking through old pics, I’m recalling the vast range of experiences my gender journey has afforded. Some excruciating and others life-saving. I’m so fucking privilege to be navigating life the way I do. I’m reminded that being a queer trans guy does not overshadow the fact that I am white, able-bodied, and read as male in society. It is absolutely my responsibility to push back against and challenge societal bullshit. Here’s to another year of channeling my gratefulness for my gender journey into setting fire to the fuckery.
Remember that time I almost cried at the park because I miss climbing so much? 3 days and a wake up and my suffering will finally end.
