To all the trans man who haven’t gotten a hysto yet, I highly recommend. The recovery is damn easy, much easier than I thought. It just feels like a period, and a mild one at that. The only thing I’m taking is some ibuprofen, even though they gave me another medicine in case I needed it. Also, if you do the version I got, the surgery doesn’t leave behind any scars. The worst thing was that they had to shave my belly and pubes, and it looks absolutely insane. It better grow back soon, I swear to god.

My trans health GP clinic went from bulk-billing my appointments to Medicare (i live in Australia, just means that my appointments were fully covered with no out of pocket gap to pay) to making me now pay a gap fee (in the new year it starts) and like fuck my life as if I didnt already have enough medical expenses

I recently started seeing a different private practice GP clinic and I dont get the chance to see them often because im a broke disabled guy, the pricing arrangement with the trans health GP and this other private practice are going to be the same in the new year so like love that for me

Im just gonna have to factor in my necessary weekly GP appointments into my budget some how?? Like if I wasnt paying my private health insurance (that I absolutely need and want to just get rid of but cant because i use it so much) cause its costing me so much each year and will only increase in price as I get older I would be in alot better position to afford things but no nope sir not for me at all

In other notes my trans health GP for some reason believes a hysterectomy is going to cost me 20k which sounds unbelievable wrong i feel like, he didnt even realise that there exists healthcare guidelines for trans men/masc people to even access a hysterectomy he fucking googled it while talking to me, like bro bro bro wtffff (he mainly focuses on men's health issues but you know you work at a clinic that claims to understand trans issues you should be educated??)

If I am going to be paying so much just to see the GP I am thinking of swapping to the private practice one and swapping between the two GPs that they have there that can cover my health issues, but im hoping that the one that says shes got experience with hormones and queer health and all that, is able to help me with the hysterectomy

Like pleaseeeee I need it goneeeeee, I saw a guy on reddit say he lived in my state and his total out of pocket expenses for a hysterectomy was like 1.5k and im like thats so doable its gonna take me a bit but its doable but also why is it 18.5k cheaper than what my trans health GP said?? Lol

If anyone has any tips to convincing gp and or other drs that I need this hysterectomy or cost guidance, especially if you live in Australia, pleaseee let me know or like message me!!

I have had a hysterectomy and lemme tell y’all smthn real quick about my experience.

Pros:

No babies.

No period.

Less dysphoria.

Better mental health literally immediately.

Cons:

No drinking/smoking for set amount of time each. (I use cbd for pain and that is not allowed during Big Pain Meds, after which I can have supplements but not carts)

No sexual anything for set amount of time (both external and internal for different amounts of time).

Body requires so much fucking calories and liquids. Get high calorie food and drinks. You will thank me. It’s annoying how often I have to eat.

For the first 24 hours after discharge I could feel the empty space where the removed tissue once resided. This is a wild experience as my body attempts to adjust to the new space and everything fights to take up as much of it as possible, as if they ascribe to Manifest Destiny.

Currently (day 19) suffering the third day of my belly button nerve being triggered from the inside by my shifting organs. This feels like I still have the ghost of my umbilical chord attached and it’s attempting to pierce me and suck out my insides but it hasn’t figured out the sucking thing yet, as well as it’s made of ghost so it’s just… touching the nerves in a ghostly way. Tartarus hath found me before my soul has left mine body and teases me with what is yet to come.

Farting. So much farting. Also, constipation is the worst. Take your anti constipation stuff. It’s not worth shitting rocks.

Also, I have a question about something

My gynecologist told me a while back that I wouldn't be seeing her anymore if I got a hysterectomy

I plan to ask her for clarification when I see her next month, but people on Discord and Reddit find this weird and have told me I have reason to continue seeing her after I'm fully healed, since I will still have other reproductive parts such as my ovaries

Anyone around here had a hysterectomy?? Any of you go to your gynecologist after your recovery was completely done??

when i was preparing for my hysterectomy i was a bit dazzled by how many products different resources said to buy. it was a lot!

the brochure given to me at the gyn office had very little information aside from telling me to bring two packages of chewing gum to prevent gas. the nurses thought it was funny how much gum i was instructed to bring. i barely chewed any of the gum. it also said i needed a housecoat that could tie in front which i got, but then didn't need. at least i have one now.

a few things that helped me:

i saw recommendations for various body wedges and hundreds of dollars' worth of pillows. i did end up getting just one — a "pregnancy" pillow that is like a big G shaped body pillow which made it easier to prop myself up in bed and get comfy without rolling around and hurting myself

a few folks had recommended a pillow to hug for coughing or to place between the seatbelt and my abdomen in the car. i ended up using a throw cushion from my couch which worked fine. i didn't need it for coughing that much, mostly for car rides. and try not to go on too many esp if your locale is full of potholes

i was very glad to own overalls. i found that i couldn't wear anything with any kind of waistband for about six weeks.

i was prescribed a laxative to go with the pain meds but i also needed senokot and a lot of water for awhile after that ran out to get things moving again. it was really difficult to bear down when the incisions were fresh and i also needed to drink hot water in the mornings

i have sleep apnea so i had to stay overnight with my cpap machine. i was very glad i had a stuffed toy for the hospital stay, and good muffling headphones to listen to ambient music and block out the woman in the bed next to mine who went on and on about different foods she couldn't eat. i also brought a charger brick for my phone with a 10 foot long cable which they were happy to plug in for me and i could use my phone from bed

I will be getting a hysto the day after my birthday. Best birthday present I could have asked for! After this I can finish up my laser hair removal and book my phallo whaoo!
