Astrology Update: April 3, 2015

Although I'll get more in depth about it tomorrow, let's talk about the upcoming lunar eclipse. First the facts:

• It will fall at 14 degrees Libra/Aries • It's only a degree off the planets Uranus and Pluto • The ruler of the eclipse, Venus, will be at 21 Taurus • Lunar eclipses are full moons that fall within the ecliptic • The eclipse will be exact at 8:06 am eastern, 5:06 am pacific, 1:06 pm London, 12:06 am Sunday in Sydney

If full moons are decision points, a time when we see things for what they really are, then lunar eclipses take the energy and potentiality of the full moon and magnify it. Add that to Uranus and Pluto and we're at a cross roads. Or, more correctly, on the threshold of a portal.

What this means is that there's a lot of cosmic mojo going on this weekend — curious because this weekend is both Passover and Easter. Sun will square Pluto on Sunday — resurrection. Bring your highest consciousness to this energy. Ask yourself and your highest guidance how you can best use this energy. How can you ground this energy into your body? (Mars and Venus are in Taurus right now. It's all about the earth and the body.)

There's an interplay between this full moon and the new moon solar eclipse we had two weeks ago at 29 Pisces. You may feel as though the eclipses have highlighted things in your life that you can't bring with you into the next chapter. And since Libra has a lot to do with relationships, this could be people or ways of interacting with others. We have to evolve.

Both these eclipses have been all over my natal chart, so I'm in it with you all. For me, I get this sense that the solar eclipse at 29 Pisces was about karmic endings and the things we need to wrap up before we can move onto the next major chapter in our lives. Both my Moon and my progressed Moon got eclipsed and there's been an energetic shift where I feel more "in the now" and letting go of the past. It's an interesting place to be. Not sure if this is the new normal or just a passing phase — we'll see. On top of that, the channeling and connection to spirit has gotten stronger. Anyway, that's just my own experience, just one of a myriad of potentials.

Astrology Update: March 30, 2015

So, let's talk about this week. There's been some questions about the upcoming lunar eclipse on Saturday at 14 Libra. Here's what you need to know in a calm, reassuring voice. 

We're in eclipse season, which happens every six months like clockwork. Eclipses come in pairs — a solar and lunar eclipse — although sometimes, if the full moon is within range of the ecliptic, we'll have two lunar eclipses and a solar eclipse. The last set of eclipses we had was back in October 2014. In astrology, eclipses are like clock chimes striking the hour and telling us what time it is. New moon solar eclipses start a new chapter while lunar eclipses wrap things up or bring matters to a head. The energy around around the eclipses is a little unstable, which is why life may feel a little shaky or you're feeling anxious. But eclipses aren't inherently bad. In my research I've seen them announce the arrival of a child or a marriage, for example. 

When we're in a time of heightened astrology like we are now — we're only two weeks past the last Uranus/Pluto square + eclipses — it's more important than ever to stay grounded. How do we do that? We connect to our breath, we meditate, we spend time in nature, we seek out the comfort of friends in family. In short, we step up our self care game. 

The lunar eclipse on Saturday will fall on the Uranus/Pluto square, meaning it will activate the powerful evolutionary energy of Uranus and Pluto. Their square configuration has coincided with a world in a state of dramatic shift. If astrology tells us what time it is, Uranus and Pluto have been showing us that it's time to make big changes in our life. The lunar eclipse will be another push toward transformation. PPS — I really bristle at the term "blood moon", which gets bandied by people about whenever we have a lunar eclipse. Just think it's unnecessarily fearmongery. That's all.

Let This Darkness Be a Bell Tower

How does one adequately describe what we've endured over the last few years? The words "change" and "transformation" don't quite express the path we've walked since 2012 or the depth of uncertainty and darkness that has accompanied us at times. Instead we turn to myth and poetry to give us the right language. 

Rilke said it so eloquently: 

Let this darkness be a bell tower and you the bell. As you ring, what batters you becomes your strength. *

For many of you Uranus and Pluto are new additions to your astrology lexicon. And if they are, I invite you to stretch out beyond the Sun because Uranus and Pluto are why everything lately has been profoundly different. These two planets have been locked together since 2012 and each time they clash their energy pushes us to make another leap in our personal evolution. 

Today is the last of seven squares. This is a big deal. We've officially made it through some of the toughest astrology we'll ever endure. One of the things I've advocated over the last few years is for each and every one of us to feel empowered to use this energy to make positive changes in our lives — push through old blocks, old fears, limiting beliefs, etc. Honor this day and honor how far you've come. Create a ritual to signal the threshold that you're crossing today.
