Urban Geode Street Art by Paige Smith
Instagram, Facebook
This urban geode street art project. Created by LA artist Paige Smith AKA A Common Name, the geodes are small art installations made from shiny paper.
Located in different cities created inside crevices, cracks, holes and are absolutely awesome to behold. I’d be so excited if I came across one of these as I was walking down the street – it’s like a tiny surprise. I love that she’s creating natural formations out of man-made environments and filling its urban decay and deterioration with something beautiful. source
FINALLY went to see the Urban Geodes at Daily Dose Cafe. 💖💕💎 || 19 Jun 2019
Ever walked past a hole in a run-down wall and thought to yourself - “How could I make this better?” Well, Paige Smith decided to bring some geodic beauty to the streets - through her Urban Geode project.
Each of these crystalline beauties were handmade by the artist, and incorporated into various urban locations throughout the world, bringing a touch of colour and awesomeness to otherwise dull or run-down locations.
The pieces are made of paper - giving the art a transient existence, lending a certain beauty to the art piece.
Join her in her bid to take over over-looked places with Urban Geode!
Paige Smith of A Common Name Studio plants what she calls "urban geodes" throughout major cities. She utilizes building holes and pipes to house her artwork, created by paper and resin.
"You might go hunting for treasures, but you generally happen upon them during your adventures or casual interaction with the environment," Smith says on her website. If you live in one of the areas Smith has visited, be on the lookout for these gems—and perhaps be reminded to look out for the unexpected treasures in your own life.
