Amy and I got up kind of early and decided we needed to step up our game on buying a dirndl. Because I needed one for that night and we weren’t really going to have time to shop in the afternoon.
We went to the shop we were at 2 days prior, to grab the ones I had tried on. But they weren’t there anymore..... they were on super sale after all. I was bummed. But I picked out a new one and so did Ames. We decided we’d buy one on sale and split the cost, it’d be my dirndl, but I would leave it with Amy so she could have a party dirndl. Which sounded good to me.
Amy picked out a yellow one with cute flowers on it and a zip up front with a green apron. I wasn’t crazy about it and it was a size small, but tried it on anyways.
And it was beautiful. It fit like a glove. I was obsessed with it. So I told Ames, and then she tried it on too, and it fit her as well. It was like the sisterhood of the traveling pants, but the Austrian version and a dirndl! We bought it! Yippee!
We made plans to go on the Linz Mural tour with Amy’s coworker Natasha. We met up with her and I instantly loved her. She’s so energetic and is a chatterbox. We took the bus over to the harbor and met with our guide. The tour was in German so Amy did her best to translate. But I didn’t mind. I just really loved seeing all the murals/graffiti/street art. They were all so impressive. We got in a boat and went around the harbor as he described the images to us.
It started to rain really hard which was a bummer for sure. Everyone went into the bottom of the boat to stay dry. It made looking at the murals hard to see. After the hour tour we went back to where we started and our guide showed us how to tag. We all got to graffiti walls, it was a lot of fun. I didn’t have much, if any, experience with spray paint.
Once we were done, the three of us walked around the harbor. It had stopped raining as soon as we got off the boat, perfect timing. But in walking around, we were able to see everything that we would have from the boat. Everything was so impressive.
The three of us took the bus back to the center of Linz and got dinner at Gelbes Korkodil. And I got to have my favorite soup, griessnockerl, Y U M!
After dinner, Amy and I got dressed in our dirndls, had some champagne, and I introduced her to Blackpink. Then we walked over to Urfahraner Markt. It had started to rain again, but not too bad, it was definitely chilly though.
Our first carnival ride we got on were the swings, which is my favorite one. We got a great view of everything. Once we got off, we met up with Florian and Johana and got in line with them to go on another ride. It was a bit more intense than we were all expecting, haha.
At this point it started to rain a bit harder. So we decided it was time to get warm in the beer tent. We went into the largest one of the three. It was wild. Everyone is in their dirndls and leiderhosen, standing on benches and on tables, singing along to the live music. It’s so hot and loud, I forget how cold I was moments before. It’s so much fun inside. We had a couple of beers, and Amy had some wine. We drank and sung along, well, I didn’t, I’m not very good at German 😑
