While you're healing you may realize you do everything like you're in danger. The healing journey requires patience and not perfection or rushing through it.

Trauma may show up through "fastness" (eating fast, walking fast, talking fast, rushing all the time for no reason, overthinking everything...): that's your body remembering a time when slowing down wasn't safe. Your nervous system learned that you had to rush, push through, keep going or something bad might have happened.

But you're not in that moment and you can reprogram that by eg. pick one daily task to slow down (wash face slower, chew slower, talk slower, get dressed slower...), breathe slowly (exhaling last longer than inhaling, so your body knows it's safe), remind yourself you're safe (place one hand on your chest and the other on your belly and repeat "I'm safe, it's safe to be in my body right here and now"), do butterfly hugs, containment holds, humming or rocking...

It's slow conscious reprogramming, to do slowly, every single day, again and again. Give yourself time to shift and be patient in the process.
