Male work friend on Monday said he had a horrible cold but felt silly taking a sick day for a cold, so was going to power through wfh. We gave him no sympathy and told him to take a sick day. He signed off in a huff.

He’s back today and is about ‘30% better’ but well enough to put together heavy desk equipment. Oh and apparently he had flu… despite telling us he had a bad cold?

I called him out on it and now he’s saying he had a cold, but it progressed into flu.

Oh sudden flash of the worst conversation of the day( just before I fall asleep) : a colleague (old white man) spent ten minutes teaching me the myth of Medusa. There was no escape. I just had to internally correct his mistakes and use my customer service voice

Today I asked a guy to explain why a credit note from 2015 was still able to leave an active account in credit

He turned around and mansplained what a credit note was to me

Was he checking I wasn't a teenager before chatting me up? Since when do only universities use name tags? Who stops someone in the middle of a residential street to ask them a question like that?
