“What is happening?” Claire shrieked, looking around hysterically as almost everyone began to lose their calm and run around madly. She didn’t know what had happened but it seemed like something was very wrong and when her eyes fell on Daisy who wasn’t far away, she hurried over to her, fear and confusion obvious in her eyes as she grabbed hold of her friend’s hand tightly. “Daisy, I - what the actual fuck is happening?” she asked, her voice by no means hiding her terror. Amidst all the chaos, Claire did the only logical thing there was to do and dragged her friend towards the doors to get out of the Great Hall as quickly as they possibly could.
Mason stood before Marlene in the Great Hall. Her brother. Her dead brother. She’d wished for the last ten months to see him again, to have him back so she could hug him and apologize. But this was different. Mason had a cold expression, one she’d only ever seen him wear when he spoke of the purists of the world, except, he was looking at her. “You killed me, Marlene.” He hissed at her and she nearly fell back. “It’s all your fault that I’m dead. That mum had to watch me lowered into the ground. It’s all your fault! You killed me!” Marlene trembled, tears spilling down her cheeks as she stood frozen in fear. She weakly tried to raise her wand, but her brother’s look made her lower it. “Going to get rid of me again, baby sister? The first time wasn’t enough?” The blonde looked at him, “I’m sorry, Mason. I didn’t mean to get you killed. I’m so sorry.”
Gabrielle stumbled out of the Great Hall and into the corridor. She’d had three cups of the spiked punch and she was feeling quite good. When she spotted Hugo, she quickly made her way over to him, albeit rather clumsily. “Hugo, I’m so so sorry.” She said, moving to hug the boy tightly. “It was just a dare. I don’t hate you and I believe you, really. I had no idea about...about my brother or my Regulus.” She slurred out, “I didn’t neven-I didn’t tell them who did it, Stefan saw you there.” She rambled, “But I’m sorry that they hurt you. I promise, I’ll fix it. I’ll make them see that it was you but it wasn’t really you.” With her steady stream of words, she didn’t give the boy a chance to talk, but simply tried to hold onto him, or maybe it was the wall, or support. She didn’t notice the chaos that was rising in the room behind them. “I promise. Just please forgive me.”
Charity saw the panic starting to encase the dance, and she looked for her friend to make sure she was alright. Seeing her not far into the dance floor, she started to quicken her pace, “Andy!” She called, before being stopped suddenly by a barred wall appearing in her path. As she steadied herself and turned to go another way, she realized she had been entirely encased by the iron bars, that connected in the top to form a perfectly moulded bird cage with a sealed door. “Andy?!” She shrieked, grabbing hold of the iron and trying to shake it free, her heart racing as panic set in, “Andy, help!”
It started small. Spiders, snakes, just your usual fears. It was rather obvious form the beginning that something was wrong. His first thought in this situation was to find Angie, or Claire, and make sure they were safe. But he hadn’t seen them in a while now, and with the crowd starting to run around, this wasn’t an easy task. Max had to push harder to make his way through, until the crowd came to a sudden end, and he stumbled a few steps in the now empty space. He finally came to a stop when his feet kicked something on the ground. Looking down to see what he kicked, his eyes fell on legs. Then making out the rest of the body, with two others laying right beside it. It only took him a second to recognize the three bodies laying limp on the floor: Gabby, Angie, and Claire. He was far too shocked to realize that what was actually wrong in this situation, was a bunch of boggarts being realized in the hall. And that those bodies were not actual ones. “No, no, no!” Max finally said as he passed the initial shock, kneeling down beside his sister. “Angie, please.” He said, his voice breaking, arms moving to pick up her lifeless body.
From the looks of it, the Halloween party was becoming quite a success. With the spiked punch, loud music, non-stop dancing and not to mention, the three gossip ghosts floating around the Great Hall forcing people into back-to-back rounds of truth or dare, there was no shortage of secrets being spilt and students being forced out of their comfort zone. In short, not only were the students having a lot of fun, there was quite a lot of teen drama happening at the event as well.
But in the midst of it all, something changed. From seemingly nonexistent spaces, all of a sudden, several boggarts began to make an appearance, taking the form of the fears of the students they first saw. For a short while, not many people noticed the new arrivals, as it took on appearances of other people or forms which wouldn’t cause widespread panic. Slowly but steadily, it began to get so much worse. There were basilisks and acromantulas, vampires and banshees in the midst of the Great Hall. From dark corners, from the carved pumpkins and under the tables, the boggarts kept coming and coming. Even with the professors around, the sheer number of them had made the situation go out of control, and now the students had no choice but to face their worst fears.
Will they realize that they were merely boggarts taking form of their fear and work to destroy the non-beings? Or will they let the fear consume them completely?
What? A menacing twist to the Halloween Happening!
When? In character it is set on the night of Halloween, towards the very end of the party. Out of character, it will last two days, so until 1 PM EST on Tuesday, 26th of September after which you cannot post new starters for the plotdrop. But please free to continue any event related posts if need be!
How? Please use the tag urhq:plotdrop2 to post starters and tag threads as well. Please do not use the tag urhq:plotdrop as it needs to stay clean. This is basically an addition to our existing event and therefore, a dash event only. Feel free to use group chats if you like and then post the chats onto your blog so everyone can be kept in the loop about what has been happening.
Who? All attendees of the Halloween Happening can get involved in this plotdrop as you see fit for your character. You may choose for your character to leave the party early if they’d rather not be involved.
Cause of the Chaos: Dolena Greengrass, Elijah Parkinson, Alecto Carrow + 2 open slots! (If your character would like to be involved in planning this mini-disaster, please message the admins. There’s a catch that they should be able to get along with Dolena IC as she is the one who came up with this elaborate prank!)
Our thanks to Siera for this wonderful plot idea which we think is just perfect for Halloween!
It was just like what happened with Ed. Except that this time, she saw Stefan kissing her, instead of just hearing the rumors. She was frozen for a moment, feeling the pieces of her heart Ed shattered break all over again. Soon enough though, she was turning away, feeling tears about to erupt from her eyes. She had to get out of there, she needed to be alone. She had been an idiot for thinking he was different, everyone warned her. But she didn’t listen, and now she had to pay for it. Dorcas was running, letting her feet lead her out of the room, away from people. She had lost track of space, and what was happening. And came to an abrupt stop when all the candles and lights turned off, and darkness submerged her. Her eyes shut thight, feeling better if she didn”t see the dark. Only to slowly reopen moments later as she heard a far too familiar voice calling her name. And he was right there, staring at her. She had to make a few steps back, stumbling against a wall she hadn’t seen through the dark. “Leave me alone!” She pleaded, but Stefan just walked closer, snickering at her. It took her some time before she picked up on what he was saying. On how he never loved her, no one ever could. The tears that she had been holding instantly left her eyes, her heart stopping for a few seconds. “Go...” She started, the words getting caught in her throat. She had been an idiot, she hated herself. “Go back to her, your parents would rather her than a halfbreed like me.” She said all at once, her anger coming out on him.
There were screams and sobs echoing in and around the Great Hall. Greta at first didn’t seem to understand what was causing such a decent party to take a sour turn. In her tipsy mind she could only focus on what was in front of her, a mummy. She didn’t understand where it had come from or what it could have wanted but when the girl standing in front of it ran off said mummy turned to her and in a blink of an eye turned itself into a giant dragon. Greta dropped her wand as she stumbled back, the mice she had enchanted vanished in an instant and she pushed herself back as the beast focused on her alone, as if enjoying the game it was about to play with its prey.
