Ask me about my original dragon species

Exactly as the title says, I'm interested in talking about some of the dragon species I've made for my original setting. The ones I'm specifically interested in talking about are:

Eitr Vyrms: "Generic" dragons in my setting.

Nature Wyrms: The souls of natural phenomena and landscapes.

Pure Ourobori: Dragons which can fully transform into any dragon or Urobian (definition: any being spiritually descended from the first dragon, Ouroborus; includes all reptiles, fish, birds, and amphibians, as well as some other animals).

Rainbows: Drawing inspiration from cultures around the world, all rainbows are dragons.

Basilcocks: Basilisks, Cockatrices, and other related creatures.

Do you get different combinations of bird/snake species in different basilcocks?

Different combinations of snakes? No. Different combinations of birds? Sort of. Cockatrices are usually considered one species with a fairly wide range of dimorphism, since cockatrices of different origins don't reproductively isolate enough to have clear different species. But first generation cockatrices tend to heavily resemble their parents' avian species.

Let's hear about the different rainbow dragons! Are they paraphyletic or a natural grouping? Are any of the groupings natural clades actually?

There are two main groups of Rainbow, also called Spektronte: True and Hybrid. True Rainbows are manifestations of the energy of Eitr, the energy remaining after the death of Ouroborus. They're able to hybridize with other species, creating Hybrid Rainbows, individuals with traits from both parent species.

Nature Wyrms technically include Eitr Vyrms, which originate from a primordial type of Nature Wyrm known as an Atter Wyrm (nature wyrms of the primordial soup).

Basilcocks are a natural clade, descending from Ophivian mating with snakes. Some have non-native ancestry, however, due to Ophivian creating a ritual that allows some mortal eggs to be transformed into Basilcocks.

Dragons in general are paraphyletic, but all are related spiritually through Eitr. So rather than being a natural clade, Dragon is better imagined as the cosmic equivalent of a crab. Nearly everything, elemental, divine, or animal, eventually becomes a dragon.

Do you have any art for your original dragons, or any reference images that inspired you?

I have artwork for some of them, though most of these species are highly dimorphic, so there's no single look that any of them have. But, for Eitr Vyrms, here's an example of one:

As I answered in a previous ask, Eitr Vyrms are best described just as "dragons." If it's a dragon you can picture, then it could theoretically be an Eitr Vyrm.

Below is a picture of a Pure Ouroborus in her birth form:

Since the defining characteristic of a Pure Ouroborus is "the ability to fully transform into any sort of dragon or Urobian," she can look like literally any dragon possible.

A chart for the different body types that my draconic species Eitr Vyrms can have. There are four main Morphologies, two of which have sub-morphs.

To start simply, Ryudon are defined as any Eitr Vyrm with characteristics typically found in Ryuung (the species of dragon to which Eastern Dragons in mythology belong). Such characteristics include:

Limbed, Elongate Body

Supernatural Flight

Branching Horns/Antlers

Manes

Tendrils/Whiskers

Marine Eitr Vyrms describe any aquatic dragon which cannot be defined by one of the other morphologies. Typically involves dragons with fins or fish-like builds rather than more expected body types.

Saurs: Eitr Vyrms which are stocky and limbed. This category includes:

Wyverns: Saurs with hind limbs and wings.

Drakes: Wingless Saurs with four or more legs.

Thrakon: Winged Saurs with four or more legs.

Lindraks: Wingless Saurs with only hindlegs.

Serpent: Dragon is elongate; can be limbless.

Wyrms: Limbless serpent.

Linnorms: Limbed serpents with only forelimbs.

Amphiptere: Limbed serpents with only wings.

Beithir: Limbed serpent with six or more legs. Can be winged or wingless.

Viperns: Limbed serpent with forelegs and wings.

You'll notice that the number of wings isn't counted, only the number of legs. A dragon with two hindlegs and four wings would still be considered a Wyvern.

All these different morphologies can interbreed with one another.

Embodiments exist outside of reality, and are the personification and source of what they represent. Light is all light. Fear is all fear. etc.

Destroyer, one of the two DISE* of the current LOAD, Landilizandra. He's a master of the darkness element, and the mate of the other DISE, Molten. Despite his name, he's actually rather chill and friendly. He's also a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to hoards, preferring coins and gems. He enjoys flying during dark nights and phasing in and out of shadows.

He's a Vipern Morph Eitr Vyrm, and Darkness was his inclined element. He never expressed any interest in learning or creating any others, darkness always suited his needs. *Cosmically Chosen body guards/generals/champions/assassins/whatever-combat-role-she-needs-them-to-be.
