November 16/17 2013 was the exact day I started liking Reiji. I used to hate the guy from the very little i'd heard and seen abt him, then one night at my best friend's house we noticed they released the first character songs a while back.
I was sat on the ground, my friend on her sofa, and nothing could've prepared 11y.o. me for A Certain Prophet's Fate.
We go into it and im ready to shit talk Reiji, but i remember staying silent the entire time thinking "shit i cant be a hater anymore" bc how could i hate on the guy thAT SOUNDS LIKE A PRINCE?!?!?! WHEN HIS VOICE SOUNDS SO GOOD? WHEN HIS SONG HAS EPIC GUITAR AND DRUMS AT THE END???? That guy wiped the floor with my pride and im kissing his boots to this very day 😔
Thinking here, I love DL the same way one likes a pack of flour. Can't eat it raw, hate dealing with it (flour bc it gets everywhere / dl bc of the fetishization of abusive behavior + inconsistencies in character development). BUT DO I THINK IT HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BE A BASIS FOR AMAZING THINGS? Absolutely. Like, it has a bunch of messed up guys full of trauma bound by blood and history together, the big bad evil guy is basically a god and their father figure, THIS COULD BE A BETTER FANTASY STORY THAN A DATING GAME.
Like I'm so fr, I wish there were dl fics that focused on a main story/adventure with lots of platonic interactions, or with romance but having it as a side thing/subplot. It makes me sick, sick sick in the head oh the misery the torment...
Always told myself I wouldn't read/play HDB (y'know, for my mind's sake), then in 2024 I played Ayato's route, ragequitted halfway bc I wanted to beat that guy with a block of cement. Thought "Hm Subaru might be better" got halfway aND QUIT AGAIN BECAUSE I WANTED TO BEAT HIM TOO 😭 No one could ever make me hate Yui that's the most resilient girlie ever
