@urzudel asked for a starter.
BEFORE THEM LAID THE EMPTY fields and further away laid Dale, and beyond that, the Lake. Every Dwarf had heard of them before, and some had seen it with their own eyes. Now, Thorin had been able to show Fíli as they stood on the stone ramparts together. Thorin held his cane at hand, its head decorated with a finely crafted, golden raven. It hid in the king’s fist as he stood there. He knew that he would never completely heal from the wounds the Battle had left him, nor would Fíli -- nor would Kíli, though he may not need to worry about such now. Had Kíli still been with them, Thorin would have wanted for him to stand by his other side on this night. He would have to do with the comfort that he was still not entirely alone, yet a little more alone than he had hoped.
“I promised your mother I would return both sons to her. I have not failed my people, though I have failed my closest kin.”
@urzudel plotted starter. / THE MORVUL KING.
gray stone had closed him in, shouting and drumming and pacing and wings flapping to keep open distance between he and his attackers. o’ what joyous fun it was to haunt and to hinder, claws scrabbling along the great, stone archways to leave thin scars in rock and earth.
HEARKEN TO THE BEAST’S CRY ! FOR IT IS AS A MAN’S !
it was an arrow that had finally pierced his spine, downing him over a hundred feet below. bones cracked and flesh splintered, clawed hands morphing to reach & fling the broken shaft from him with violence. snout and swine nostrils transformed and shifted, giving way to gaunt cheekbones and terrible ice blue eyes. unchanging were his protruding teeth, which were white as snow and bloodied from the taste of his own wounded tongue.
flung again from him are spearheads and axes made to carve his flesh, fresh blood spilling out onto the grand floor until it became as a black stain beneath him, smoldering like embers until it too would disappear. still those fangs glimmer, mouth agape with an UNGODLY HISS. he protects his heart with his hands, towering over even the tallest of the mountain hall’s warriors with grace and ease. and it isn’t until they retreat for reinforcements that this Morvul bends at the torso, hands moving to press to a spot against his abdomen silver... something had been made from silver....
o, but one dwarf remains. one brave enough to stay while the others shall flee. he can smell within him the blood of kings. the blood of a warrior. dracula makes no move to kill the lingering gazad, hands pressed against the wound that leaks liquid silver ! and he deigned to speak to him the common tongue: “ will you not run in fear, vok fraukanak ? ”
@urzudel / the crystal calls !
there is nothing the skeksis lord can't bend beneath his rule, nothing they can't break like a dying old branch, and most importantly; there is nothing lurking outside of the world-swallowing shadow skekSo casts, nothing beyond his reign.
or at least he had thought so.
a warped carriage opens without a door ━ more like the wall itself is blooming ━ and as it's lone occupant leans through with ringed talons lightly gripping the rim, laughter too rich for something so old fills the air.
" not like any gelfling i've ever seen. " at first glance, he might've thought the creature before him was an overgrown drenchen, but no, even that's too tall for gelfling, their faces never so hard either, ( oh but it's just as hideous to look at. )
he leans towards his brother, voice low to avoid being overheard. “ surely they will not notice if we are gone a short while... ” this particular trek has brought its share of tedium. playing escort to travelling merchants has grown less appealing as years pass, the usual routes growing ever more familiar. but at last, tonight, there has been a sign of something more promising -- an unexpected detour has brought them near a stretch of dark, thick woods, as yet tantalizingly unfamiliar. he has been itiching to explore a little since it first appeared on the horizon. and with most of the party now resting... “ come! ” he says, a hint of mischief in his eyes to accompany the challenge. “ do not tell me you’ve grown afraid of the dark, brother... ” company or no, he plans to go. he has grown too restless to sit sharing campfire stories much longer... // @urzudel liked for a starter!
@urzudel: ❝ you know, i really hoped i’d never see this place again. ❞
“Then what has brought you back, Master Dwarf?” Tauriel asks, a small smile on her lips as she replaces her daggers in their sheathes. She is not displeased to see him, but she has to wonder how he’s found himself back in the forest — and within reach of another spider nest, at that.
“It is fortunate we found you before you went much further that way. And I doubt another cell will be necessary, provided you’ve a reason to be here. Besides that, the king knows you, now.”
@urzudel said: ❛ only you could contemplate imminent death and think ‘alright’ ❜
he made no reply at first, responding only with a broad grin. he could have predicted exactly -- down to the very word and inflection -- what his brother would say when he heard kíli’s plan. but there was no changing his mind. perhaps it was a touch reckless to venture so far from the tried and true routes trod by their people for so long. still, he would not be swayed. what was the threat of the odd goblin to the pair of them? at last, he lifted one brow at his brother, amused. “ don’t tell me you’re too afraid to join me? ” he shook his head sadly. “ a shame, brother. i thought you braver than that, ” he teased.

a plea for help was never an easy task ; it meant weakness . yet , she found herself at such a low point . ❝ --------- i have nowhere else to go... ❞ not after everything , not after she had betrayed her king’s trust . it was too much to return home and act as if nothing had changed . timid gaze lifts from ground to catch the prince before sidelong glance is cast away once more . ❝ allow me to offer my services . ❞
