Driving along US 30
(Allan Grant. 1948)
US 30 Dragstrip were the great ones ran.
Located in Northwest Indiana, not far from Chicago, this drag strip became a mecca of sorts for high speed motor sports. Opened in 1954, just as drag racing was starting to take off, U.S. 30 quickly became famous for a number of firsts that took place there during the following decades.

A Journey Across Oregon in 1940.
One of two web trip diary exhibits by the Oregon State Archives (the other describes a trip south along the Oregon Coast), this journey follows US 30 westward from Ontario across the Blue Mountains through the Columbia Gorge and past Portland to Astoria. US 30 was the outline for route of what would later become Interstate 84 from the Idaho border to Portland.
