Happy Juneteenth
In honor of those who cast off one burden and picked up another. The General did not lie in his last line. We have not been supported in idleness nor in labor, not in struggle or in joy.
Enjoy the cookout and don't mourn those we've had to uninvite. That just leaves more space for those who belong.
We have loved this country even when it didn't love us. It has shown us over and over again who it is, and now many of us finally believe it.
To quote Dr. Angela Anderson, “No longer am I willing to prioritize those to whom I am replaceable at the expense of those to whom I am not.”
Heal. Rest, and be ready for the coming struggles. Remember, survival is in our DNA.
Our Watch Is Ended
