Have you watched any of the summer competitions? What are you most excited about?

I’ve watched a little of the Broadmoor Open (mostly the jumps comp because that was way fun), and I watched some of the videos from Glacier Falls and Philadelphia (I only watched the men - I hardly had time to watch anyone else). Some thoughts:

- Jason Brown’s FS this season is an absolute masterpiece. We thought the Piano FS was exquisite, but this one is on another plane of existence entirely. It’s absolutely stunning. I am so excited for this. So very, very beyond excited. The negative flip side is that I think the music cut for the SP is untidy in a detrimental way, but I’m guessing that won’t change…

- Max Aaron could have a bigger say in the results of the season than a lot of people give him credit for. Both programs, though warhorses, are very nice and show off his improvement on the second mark, but the SP is the better. Additionally, he was credited with three rotated quads in the FS at Philadelphia, including two quad toes, and the program layout was for four…

- Andrew Torgashev’s Tango de Roxanne might just be the only Roxanne with lyrics I will be able to handle watching multiple times. I swear he was a tiny boy only a few seconds ago, and now he’s skating with such maturity!

- Timothy Dolensky and Alexander Johnson also looked really impressive for early August at Philadelphia.

- I did catch Vincent Zhou’s video from Skate Detroit…and he could have some trouble with tech panels this season if he’s not careful.
