Things I don't use my iPod Touch for
There are several things I just don't use my iPod touch for. Here's a list of several of them. 1) Watching video: This just isn't something I do. I think it's because of the small screen, as it mostly doesn't feel right at this size. Oh, I'll watch the occasional YouTube video or so, but even there video is just something for my laptop. The other guess of mine is that the lack of 3G (due to not being an iPhone) hinders my video watching. When I would watch a short video, I'm on a bus most likely. That means (for now) no wifi, and hence no videos. 2) Email: Now this one is a little counterintuitive. I do use my iPod touch's email app nigh-constantly. However, I just can't (or haven't figured out how) to file things away into the same set of folders I store emails I'm finished with on my Mac. Now I can hear people saying "gmail filters!" but I don't use the gmail web client at all so that doesn't help me much. Therefore I generally use my iPod touch to do triage and cut down on all the spam and cruft that gets sent my way, and quickly reply and send out emails. 3) Writing: Bottom line, the keyboard is just too small. It's fine for twitter and the occasional skype/IRC chat but not for longer things like papers or longer blogs (except for this one ironically enough). I've tried an iPad keyboard and I think I could do quite well with one of those, but until I get to keep one for a while I don't think I'll really know for certain. That's pretty much it for what I don't do on my iPod touch that I do do on my laptop. Now there's a certain set of web pages I don't browse on my iPod touch but that's mostly due to the lack of a mobile interface (forums I'm looking at you) but for the most part I anything else I can do on my iPod.
