Useless Coco Headcanons (5)
Sure thing Santa Cecilia is interesting because is the house of the beloved composer Héctor Rivera and Ernesto, the fraud. But aside of that, some beautiful landscapes and some ocassional event there’s not that much to do. After 8 pm it becomes a ghost town, only a few stores and the pharmacy are open, but this is when a lot of people sells Cena (dinner).
Miguel buys pirate movies, 4 x 50 pesos is an offer he can’t let pass. It’s probably the only way he’ll get all Ernesto’s movies to watch over and over and over again. Now that he knows the truth about Ernesto it’s such a relief he didn’t spend money on expensive original movies
Not all, but some pillows of the Rivera household are filled with nothing but old clothes (Mostly Mamá Coco and Elena’s pillows). Each time they have to wash it, it becomes an afternoon with talks about how small Miguel was when he was born, the pretty blouse of Rosita, how angry was Abel when he used certain pants… The list of stories goes on and on.
Miguel uses his red hoodie over and over and over again. As soon its clean and dry he wears it. Good thing he lost it, or that’s what Luisa thinks, she was getting tired of him wearing it everywhere.
Now that the music ban was lifted there’s so much to listen. But that’s not good news for everyone. After… Almost all her life in silence Elena doesn’t have a good time when the music sounds loud all around the house, she’s not used to such amount of noise. Yes, she enjoys music, but in a low volume.
Certain chihuahua dog used to pee on Ernesto’s shoes. When he was alive and not rich it was such a big pain in the as… pects of appearance and economy , he couldn’t afford much pairs of shoes, so he had to be washing the same pair of shoes over and over. Héctor always mocked about it, and got really angry when the dog peed over something that was his.
Now he’s dead is even worst. Now there are 4 of them, and the chihuahualebrijes still peeing everywhere and biting his shoes or all kind of stuff if he leaves it lying around. At least he can afford a lot of things now.
Ernesto and Héctor cooked for each other and shared meals un uncountabletimes in their life, but tacos de queso fresco were their favorites. Just a piece of cheese in the middle of a warm tortilla. Easy, fast to make and tasty, rarely fried. They used to eat it when they were very excited practicing and very distracted to eat a proper meal. Héctor also used to make those also for Imelda when she was pregnant.
After the poisoning and when he became the greatest music sensation, Ernesto still liked cheese but neither cheese tacos or quesadillas were well received.
‘That’s for the poor, better give me a bunch of salt ’ he used to say. For their chefs and people cooking for him it was just a picky attitude, for him it was a bad memory.
Ernesto’s path to success was rocky, was in the moments when his career didn’t seemed to be as successful as it was with Héctor when he missed him the most. ‘Was it worth it?’ He used to ask himself
When alive, Imelda and Ernesto can whistle really loud. Imelda uses her fingers, but Ernesto doesn’t. Héctor can’t whistle, only very soft. Héctor learned to whistle in TLOD.
When Héctor was alive he liked to be barefoot. That feeling of the dirt, grass, dust, water and many surfaces in his feet was incredible, he felt free in that way.
Since he’s reunited with his family doesn’t like to be barefoot. He reminds all the time he spent alone in the land of the dead, the clacking sound and feeling of his bones against the cobblestone is something he doesn’t want to feel ever again.
