1. Useless Phrases: Vivi! I’m probably v obviously a sucker for kids named after relatives. I don’t know if you saw the prompt on tumblr only (sigh... prolly lost in my blog forever now) but Vivian’s birth gets a little Anxious Alex drabble, ICYMI
But! I guess I get to retcon my thoughts now, so I think next season is the perfect time because Alex doesn’t work for the DEO anymore. When I wrote UP, it was more about J’onn having said Alex would have an easier time with a family as Director, but I dunno that that actually seemed to be the case in seasons 4-5 lol.
Anyway, Alex and Kelly get married circa season six and I believe canonically they’re right around thirty/early thirties so like... go time. They’re having breakfast at home one day (obviously no blueberry pancakes) and just silently chilling, Alex is on her phone, and Kelly’s reading a book... and Kelly brings up that she feels like she’s at a place in her career that she’d be willing to carry their baby; they haven’t had any luck with adoptions and could still adopt another baby or child sibling (Kelly knows how important that is to her 1/2 of the Danvers sisters). I like the idea of Alex kind of not hearing her at first, and maybe just like ‘uh huh’ing for a second, and then there’s the lightbulb moment and HAPPY TEARS
The donor is anonymous, and I think I would say around UP, they’re in the process of adopting two siblings aged 2 and 5 🥺 Honestly with the high level corporate R&D work that Kelly does... I really want Domestic Butch Alex Danvers™️: staying home with the kiddos and I think they can afford it 😌
Also! I have an extremely strong opinion about the “wanting kids” thing, I own it. It’s like... the cishets are out here getting bullied by their families and churches into kids they maybe don’t want yet or at all, why would we put ourselves and our potential kids through that?? I don’t think it has to be people pressuring one another in the relationship; even staying together in secret or stated “hope” that the other changes their mind is recipe for pain.
Anyway I broke off a 5 1/2 year relationship for this and now she and her wife have, and I am not exaggerating because I have been to their house multiple times, 14 cats. She has this whole calculation that they did showing 14 cats is cheaper than having a child 😬 oof
2. When Did You Change? (Wendy, You’ve Aged): I haven’t thought of that before! I think Fiona’s reaction to Dex saying no was pretty distasteful to our little heartbroken disaster so I hadn’t thought much past that little missing scene at all! I’m a little bit too cynical maybe but I don’t see a happy way that goes only because of Ansel 🥺
